Havent researched these, not gonna buy em or anything, but would not expect a plastic rca bookie to have the real deal, if they are indeed.

I grew up listening to my dad's ESS AMT1B's and that is definitely not a heil tweeter. The tweeters go for $300 a pair all day long on ebay so if you ever do see any down in Atlanta for cheap let me know because I'll need some spares for when I inherit my old man's.

Hope you all are doing well, try to call soon.

Putting real AMTs in a plastic RCA speaker would be like mounting a jet engine in a Yugo.

Ha! I remember those. Back when I was just getting into home theater, I gave those a try along with the matching center. I remember being pleasantly surprised. Back then, Radio Shack sold some quality stuff. These days, though...

Linaeum tweeters don't look the same as Heil AMT tweeters. I don't think it's the same design.

The Linaeum tweeter is more like a planar - and nothing like a Heil AMT. The Lineaums aren't bad - although a little strident for my taste.... and the 'real' Lineaum branded drivers were much more substantially built than the R/S drivers.

The Heil drivers are still/again available, not cheap, though.

(well, looks like they're on backorder... but at least - in principle - yez can buy a pair...)

Memories.... Kind of makes me want to dig out some of my R/S collection and take them for a spin down memory lane. They used to make some pretty decent stuff. At least that's what it seemed like as a teenager. I remember one of my earliest memories of hearing a nice rig. A buddy's dad had a huge Sansui receiver on a pair of Mach 1's. The guy also had a gigantic speaker from a juke box. man I thought he was cool.

I've had both the Optimus LX-4 and LX-5 with Linaeum tweeters. Neat stuff with no relation to Heil.

    I have LX-5.
They are not bad but need a subwoofer.
A lot of flickering sound from the tweeters.

I have some of the later model RCAs with that Linaeum tweeter and a supposed yellow kevlar woofer. They don't make "any" flickering sound, you must have a defective set?

Hold on... there is an app for it. I mean there is a word for it.
Details.... lots of details and sizzles from that tweeter.
Now don't ask what sizzling sound is.

they are a bit sizzly, truth be told.
I have a pair of the add-ons that I bought on close-out - the stock XO (probably an NP electrolytic from some third-world country ruled by a despotic dictator) doesn't help matters, probably.

The pure-play drivers made by Lineaum were certainly much more stoutly built - and may well sound much better; I've never stumbled across any, though (at least to date).
