1 doesn't look all that bad but the one w/ the bigger stains might need the full bleach treatment and the steps that follow. Ask Jesse if they are salvagable w/ just a sanding ,if not then it's Oxalic acid to bleach both tops>tack off> sand w/ 150 grit> tack off> check severity of stain,if still exsists repeat. If all good then pick a stain you like apply w/ the grain let dry fully then apply either a poly satin or some people use wax to finish up theirs. As you can clearly see in the 1st pix I have a deep water stain and it was on both tops.If I were to sand that it would have left no wood it was that deep so it was the bleach method for me.Keep in mind in the finished one the poly has not been applied yet.
If using this oxalic acid do not water it down as the box says .My box said for dimensions of a deck, her you need a thicker tooth paste consistancy and not to leave it on so long as to warp the wood your trying to make beautiful.I got mine at Sipperstein Paints for $4 and ther is plenty in the box.So supplies, Oaxolic Acid, Tack Rags, Sand paper, face masks, vacumm, stain, and finish.Jesse will recommend to take the tops of the cabinets,I couldn't do it not manly enough so I rapped the cabinets w/ a comercial graderol of seran rap and painters tape and no leaks if done right.

Again confer w/ F-1 Jesse a pro woodworker ,a profectionist and likes to see projects turn out right under his tutilidge

Mike I don't think that's actually true.My end caps and bottoms were of real wood a White Light Oak where the varnish faded and the wife used them as live plant watering stations. Yes there are the vinyl models the studios I believe that either are coverd w/ vinyl and some other models used some form of veneer. In any case still not an expert and Easy Running should refer to the links provided before and talk/pm F-1 to be sure.I know nothing peeled away from mine so no veneer.

Those should be veneered. A sure fire way to tell if the end caps are solid wood or veneered is to look at the letf and right sides of the end cap. If you see end grain, it's solid wood. If you see face grain, it's veneer.

Not sure if mark running across the grain are stains or imperfections. What do you think?

Really? They don't look bad on my iPad. I been having a lot of trouble lately posting picture. "File size too large" errors. I took the last 3 at a distanced then cropped them.

I know it has been a real p.i.t.a. to post pictures. On your camera most have a computer file size that would be your best bet instead of cropping.
On my Nikon point and shoot top picture is 10mb then 8mb then computer so on yours just set to one of the lower resolution settings. since we would not be blowing up to make a big picture it help to have a lower resolution

Wood Veneer, glued to MDF, is what I was referring to, not Vinyl. The only solid wood caps that I'm aware were on the early SRS,SRS 2's, there might have been others.
