Are these one of the better SDA's to get?
I finally got a line on a set no SDA cable though..
these look to be in pretty good shape no damage or anything.
How much do these go for used?
Don't believe they have been modded YET..lol

Yeah, they are nice. Came in both blade/blade and pin/blade. The pin/blade version would be preferred as you can use non-common ground amps in conjuction with the AI-1/Dreadnaught if desired.

They are close to the 1C's, but with a 15" PR. You cannot TL them, if that matters to you.

Thanks Jesse, not sure what TL means though?
Do you think offering $400 would be a good offer used?

I would say that's a fair price. My SRS 2s were twice the price, but they had been refurbed' with new grill cloth, repair to the wood and X-overs. Give them a listen and dicker (it never hurts, unless you Way-Low-Ball-him)

$400 is a very good price, buy them,

TL is the designation used on the last SDA series. It stands for Tri-laminate, which refers to the SL3000 tweeter. Some previous models can be modified to use the SL3000 or the much better RD0198-1 replacement. The SDA SRS2 uses the SL2000 or it's vastly superior RD0194-1 replacement tweeter. There is no Polk approved TL mod for the 1C's or SRS2's.

When I see crap all over the place like that I really have to question how well the speakers were cared for. Just saying.

If the seller is anywhere close, ask for a demo, if they look o.k. and all drivers are firing, I'd take 5 bills with me and offer 4 of them and see what happens. Cash in hand, in person, always trumps an offer through the web.

unfortunately the seller is a 4hr round trip for me..
I've sent him a message asking a few questions about them, then if I like what I hear I might shoot an offer and see..
    Thanks for the help guys..

Ask about the SDA connection, even if he doesn't have the cable. If it is a pin/blade, as Jesse has stated, that's a good thing. He has them rated at an 8/10, but the picture doesn't show well.

Good luck, the SRS 2's are a great speaker and well worth the effort.

Only a 4 hour round trip? That's a piece of cake. I once drove a 17 hour round trip for a pair of speakers and I know some others that have that beat. Hell, I know a guy here that drove thru a blizzard to deliver an amp.

All hail Ed, the SRT king! lol I recall the first time he stopped here after picking up some SRT's. That New Yorker encountered a strange substance in Iowa; mud. ;)

Couldn't agree more. Some of these people certainly don't know how to put their best foot forward when trying to make a sale. At a bare minimum, he could have taken the damn boxes off the top of the speakers, vacuumed around/under them and picked up the kids' toys/crap that's leaning against them. In your favor though, maybe that junk made a few minor scratches that you could use for wiggle room on the price, seeing as how you'd probably be planning on doing some refinishing and repainting anyway. Also, let him know that those special "SDA cables" go for about $150 now and you'd have to replace it. And, as Mike said, take 5 bills with you and offer him 4 of them - but make sure the fifth one is broken down into 20's and 10's.

I have a pair of 1986 SRS 2s and I think they are some of the best built SDAs; large amount of internal bracing in a large cabinet with a large passive radiator. They are a true pair of full range speakers and fun for music and movies!
