Hello all Polkies, I must say i am a big fan of Polk speakers ever since i got my first basic Polk Surroundbar 3000HT
So this time i decided to build my first HT. I started off with 3.1 setup
2 RTIa5 as fronts
1 CSia6 as Center Channel
PSW 108 as Sub
Yamaha 7.2 RX V575 Receiver

With Samsung 60" LED SMART TV
So far I've been playing with the settings and reading a lot of forums. i mainly use my system for Movies and trying to find optimal settings for my setup.
What would be the ideal settings for my setup for movies?
My crossover is set to 120 and all speakers are set to "Small"

I've never run the RTI A5's in 3-channel, but have them as mains powered by RX-V571. Older version of yours.

When I had it running in 5.1 I think I had the crossover set at 110. Took it up to 7.1, and currently running at 90, but haven't really played with settings since I added speakers. Have another project related to my system, and figured I'd just wait until that's complete.

Most of the advise you'll get is start with 80, and then play with the settings until you find what you like. If that happens to be 120, your good. Sit back and enjoy.

    Welcome to Club Polk!

Why would you want to set your towers and large center to 120hz as your crossover? That is the setting for small satellite speakers? I really wouldn't go any higher than 80hz with those speakers. The higher you set that crossover the more it will be possible to locate the sub (tell where the sub is, lose the illusion of that bass coming from all of your speakers)!

Definitely would lower the crossover to 80hz would be my first step and also lower the LPF on the sub to 80hz if you have it any higher than that.

    Hey Crazy, welcome aboard!!

Nice little set up you've got. If you like music, you'll love it even more with your A5's.

So you've already gotten the advice, lower the settings. You could try having your settings quite low and raise them from there, such as Mains @ 40 and Center @ 60.

See how that sounds with your sub, then raise the Hz, Mains @ 50 Center @ 70.

As others have stated, a lot of members prefer 80 Hz for most of their speakers which is where you will eventually end up as you go through the tone tests.

    Have fun and welcome

Thanks everyone, So this weekend i ran a couple of tests and played with settings and currently its set to 100 hz. i'll see if im am satisfied with 80 and then will keep it at 80 as you all said. and the crossover on my sub is all the way to its highest level as i want my receiver to control the crossover for sub
For Movie testing i played World War Z .
Any other recommendation for movies and music to test my system ?

100 hz still seems pretty high, but if that's what you like then that's all that matters.

I just want to add that for your Rti a5, it is arguably the best speaker in the Rti line up. Of course, it requires a good sub to compensate for the lows. If you want to add value and bring your speakers to life, you NEED to talk to Vr3 (trey) in the mod section. I got tips and advice from him to modified my old Rti8 (at the time). It's a huge improvement in clarity. Even my gf (at the time again) thinks it's definitely worth the upgrade.

Yes, I've crossed my Rti8 (Rti a5 equivalent) at 80hz as well. It's got 2 biggest mid range component in the RTi A series. Don't waste it by crossing over at 110hz :)
