This has been a long time in the making. I work at an audio video B&M store and I hardly considered the subs we have. They were either too much money even at discount or they weren't that great or they were just too large. I narrowed by search down to the Hse VTF3-MKII, SVS PC 20-39+ or the SVS PC-Ultra. I even looked closely at the Hsu Tn1220HO with the 500 watt amp but the amp was too large. I needed a lighter sub with a small footprint and after weeks of reading reviews and forums I pulled the trigger. The guys at SVS really know customer service. I e-mailed them Wed. night at 10pm and Ron e-mailed me back at 9am Thursday morning. Anyways, congrats to all those who have purchased the Ultras. Now if only scotty can just beem mine down right now.

Excellent choice, you will be very happy with the SVS. In addition, the HSU would have been another good choice, you could not have lost in that bracket. Have fun breaking some things :D
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

As JJ would say, "That's Dynomite!!".

Congrats DD. MY SVS sub is scheduled to be shipped on or soon after tomorrow. I ordered the PB1+. Can't wait to get it.

Thanks for the responses, congrates on the purchase pj. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Dynamite was a weak college nickname. The only times I was call dynamite was usually in jest. I just figured it would be easy to remember as a username. The Hsu is a great sub, I didn't have the room for it and I hear the piano black finish VTF-MKII won't be out till april so I decided against. Does anyone know how much the PC-Ultra weighs??

    DD,

Looks like the SVS website has TBA for the PC-Ultra weight. I'm sure you've seen this too and why you are asking.

My PB1+ is supposed to weigh 110 lbs. I would guess that the PC-Ultra is going to weigh in at 80 - 100 lbs (just an educated guess).

That's a very impressive TV-12 driver in the Ultra. Dr. Spec told me that the TV-12 has an xMax of > 26 mm.

I also have a Hsu STF-2 and its a nice little sub that I'm going to use in my dedicated two channel rig.

As for nicknames, I've had quite a few myself. My latest one is "Diddy" because my initials are PD. I've also been called "T-Paul" and my friends call me "Pauly".

Congrats Guys!!!! When it arrives You will quickly notice that there is no hype when it comes to the quality of the build and sound that SVS puts out. You will have to set aside a few days after setting it up to rewatch movies and experiance what you have been missing you'll be amazed, I was and still am.

    Nice going

The Ultra is one amazing subwoofer.

You WILL be totally impressed. It is simply in another league in terms of performance.

Paul's guess on the weight is about right - count on about 80 pounds. My 20-39PC+ weighed like 65 pounds and you can add another 15 for the TV-12.
