Oppo 105D

Looks like Oppo has finally come out with the Darbee version of the 105. This will cost $100 more just like the 103D. I haven't seen a Darbee unit or one with it pre-installed, so I'm wondering if those that have the separate Darbee unit or a 103D thinks there's enough difference to warrant the added cost. The 105 was the next purchase in my immediate future.

Once you have $1200 out of your pocket....whats another $100? If you get the D, it might be the last BR player that you will buy for a very long time....will just need to get a 4K set.

Anyway, many don't realize how close a BluRay is to the original master. Any type of D enhancements are going to be subtle...not revolutionary. If you have a good set and its calibrated then....that is about as good as its going to get. You can see some detail differences if you look at the YouTube comparisons.The thing is.....the only way to know how much of a difference its going to make is to see it in your own set.

Myself, I hope to find a 103D , there is a used one that just popped up. However, if a used 103, 95, etc pops up and I might go with that and be done. The was a used 105 for $750 that just popped up....hummm? nevertheless, the D is not that important to me after reading the reviews and watching the comparisons on YouTube.

Assume you are going to run it analogue in your HT rig vs digital which is how you have your Sony right now? I hear great things about Darbee, especially the bigger your display. You should see a nice benefit with your 70" Sharp I would think, people really like it with a PJ.

I thought I had really missed out by buying my Oppo 103 back in Dec. of 2012, basically many months before Oppo decided to bring out the 103D with Darbee. Now, after reading more reviews on the 103D, looks like with my 22"Vizio, I probably wouldn't of been able to see much of an improvement even if I did have the 103D Darbee upgrade. Definitely , the bigger your screen display( over 47" ?), the more improvement you'll notice with the Darbee feature.

Zane are you gonna pull the proverbial trigger? I got me a 55 inch F9000 4k set during Black Friday was gonna get the 103 Darbee but something told me hold off as I want to run analog and was hoping they would come out with the 105 Darbee edition I was told the other day from CS at Oppo that March will be the month this happens, is that what you heard? I'm all giddy can't wait my rtia5's a3's and my csia6 along with my new set are all now looking forward to this, now if I could somehow manage a new Denon 4520ci too boot

The 105D is posted on the Oppo website right now. I didn't try to order one but I am going to in a couple of weeks. So I'm really not sure if you order one right now that you will be on some kind of waiting list.

I just went through the order process except of pushing the last button to buy and nowhere did it say anything about having to wait until March. Order yours and let us know.

This is great 2 days ago these were not listed on Oppo's site now they are. I don't see them available through Crutchfield or Amazon yet. The only thing about purchasing from those guys would to be to get free shipping but maybe these are only available through oppos site. Like mentioned above if your willing to drop 1199 what's the big deal on the extra 100 for the Darbee edition and whatever it is they are charging for shipping. I will be calling Oppo tommorrow. Thanks for the heads up Zane.
