Hey guys,
I'm getting a bit of speaker pop when I turn on or off the B&K EX-442 amp I found a couple of weeks ago.
I've got the MC-101 > EX-442 > RTi10 speakers

I keep the volume turned down
Power on source
Power on preamp
Power on amp

every time there is a little pop.

Is this normal for old equipment?
Will it damage my speakers?
Is there a way to power cycle to avoid this?

Not an OFFICIAL reply, but when I do it, there's not what I'd call a 'POP', but rather a small sound that signifies to me that the amp is on. If it's a loud sound, I'd be concerned, but I'm guessing it's what I hear in mine.

okay, yeah, it's more of a click, not a hugely loud pop as long as the volume is down, but I can feel some small movement in the drivers.

If it was a POP, you'd know it. I asked my wife to turn on the stereo, and she forgot the order. When she turned the preamp on when the power amp was on, it was a HUGE pop. I wouldn't be concerned.

Someone else just asked about pops with B&K amps and IIRC, they have no mute relays, so it's normal.

I would check DC offset to be safe. AK has a long thread on how to check it in their vintage subforum.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

yeah, I think I read the other day that you can build in relays to delay the power up
