We kinda got wrapped up in this Woody Harrelson, Mathew Mcconaghy series opener yesterday, never heard of it, hbo was free for a few days and stumbled across it.

They are two 90s era homicide detectives in louisiana, presented in flashbacks during present day interviews with their old police dept, concerning a case they supposedly solved back in the day concerning a Ritualistic serial killer case.

They do not seem like friendly interviews.

Not a huge fan of matthew, but this seems well done.

It's quite an interesting show. Now that they have set the stage by showing multiple story lines I'm interested to see where it goes next week.

I have it recorded but haven't watched it. As some may have noticed, I'm a bit of an HBO nut. They do everything so well, I DID watch the first five minutes for the GOT preview!

I read that neither star will be on it next season. It's a one and done for them, but presumably HBO will hire others to take their place since the show is supposed to continue.

I've seen the first 4 episodes and am totally hooked! McConaughey totally inhabits his character and Woody does a great job as well. Don't know where the show is going, but the present day interviews with the two detectives seem a bit hostile, like they suspect MM's character.

It's going to be a little like American Horror Story from what I heard. Each season is independent, but has the same tone/themes. But, yes, Woody and MM are both one & done.

A little dissapointed with the biker infiltration scenes by mcconaghay.

Typical hollywood biker stereotypes, way too trusting and soft, a little caricature based, also, if matthew had snorted, drank all he ingested, after years away from these substances,he would not be capable of beating and manhandling a daily imbibing biker, but that is hollywood storytelling, libertys are taken.
The extended, no cuts one shot scene in the projects was very impressive, one mistake, and its start all over.

Anyway, looking forward to the last 2 episodes to find out about the giant.

Both me and my Wife like the show very much. Not too happy about the new story-line for season two, hopefully it's not a flop season like american horror story. The 2nd season was such a flop, the first and third were Great!

Where did you hear about story lines for Season 2? While the same 2 guys (writer/director) have expressed an interest in doing another (similar) story line (the show was never going to be the same characters and the same actors), I'm not even sure HBO has acknowledged it. Having said that, I don't think there's much doubt that it will happen given the shows (well deserved) critical acclaim; it's one of the best mini-series I've EVER seen.
BTW, I wouldn't classify Season 2 of AMS as a "flop"; in fact, I thought it was at least as good as Season 3; that's another well done series (I hear Jessica Lange is only in for 1 more season).

Deb and i began watching this outstanding series together because we had a free weekend of HBO, with no idea of what was about to happen in our own lives.

Even though it has been a dark sad storyline, both onscreen, and in our lives,I have watched every episode.

Tonight we will finish it together.

Great end to the season. What a psychopath that Childress guy was. I though Cole was goner for sure, Marty too. Took a head shot to end things. Plan to watch it again as some of the dialog is tough to hear the way Cole mumbles his lines.

Good thing I didn't read this until AFTER I had watched the last couple of episodes. Ever heard of the phrase "spoiler alert"?

I suspect MM will add an Emmy for this performance to the Oscar he won for Dallas Buyers Club.

Didn't think about it. Figured anyone who read the first line of my post would know plot description's coming. This thread is discussing the episode, it's not a review.

WOMEN. I agree it will be hard to top, but the writer/director combo is obviously talented and they've already said they're thinking about something similar featuring 2 women in the lead roles.

It is! Just got the series on Blu Ray, should look a lot better than cable on which I've seen it twice. Guess I'm a fan . . .
