Ice maker in Whirlpool Gold fridge making plastic clicking noises, like gears turning. Ice not being made. Scoped it out and at the rear of the ice-maker, wedged at the very edge was a cube. Finally got that dislodged but the clicking sounds are still there, whether the arm is up or down. Amazing how such a small sound gets really really annoying after hearing it for some hours
Thoughts??

That would be great if I had the room and the wife wouldn't notice it was goneComputer room Hegeman 1 SpeakersM&K VX-80 subKenwood DP-7010Cambridge Audio CXC Transport Rega DACPrimaLuna Prologue Four AmpAric Audio Tube PreampGarage Jennings Research SquareCustom tube preampCrown XLS-1000Denon DCD-1500II Modded MSB Link DAC

It opened up space in the kitchen for a nice wine rack. Once you get used to it, you don't mind going to the garage.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

Sound like you may have popped a tooth on one of the gears. Worst case it's got a timing issue. Pull it apart to know for sure.
I was able to make multiple repairs to my ice maker during a two year period then it finally came down to replacing it. -
My icemaker had that same type of sound/issue. I was able to pull the front cover off and their were a couple of plastic gears underneath the cover. One was split. I ordered a new gear from Sears Parts Direct, installed it, and all was well.DKG999

http://www.repairclinic.com/ once you find the problem. I too think gear got stripped a little.

Well, got home this evening after a long day of driving folks around to their various appointments and lo and behold the noise had stopped and when I dropped the lever down it started to make ice again! So it would appear that all is now well but just in case I am scoping out prices of a new ice maker
