Chromebook laptop? How do they perform?

Anyone using a Chromebook? Thinking my next laptop might be one of them as it seems to be just what I need for a laptop. I just basically need something to get online with, play MOG, youtube, etc. A webcam for talking via Skype would be nice but not needed. Dont plan on really storing anything on it, nor really using it for any major word processing tasks. I like some of the Acer models prices, but know back in the day Acer used to have a somewhat bad rep regarding breakdowns.
So anybody made the switch? If you have what are your thoughts? Are they super slow, responsive, hard to run multiple Chrome windows on, etc? Any particular recommended model?

I have one and use it at home. Mine is a Samsung for a couple of years it seems
Not a business computer, but can do virtually anything you need to do using a browser and with some google apps. External devices are limited, but again if you want something cheap that is a browser and don't like typing on a tablet the Chromebook is fine.
Check to see if the apps/extensions you want to do are supportedMy New Year's resolution is 3840 × 2160

Yeah, the Acer C720's and C710's look to be decent. Screen image isnt supposed to be the best from what reviewers are saying. I am betting though they wouldnt work with a headphone amp like the DragonFly due to lack of drivers. That would kinda suck, but otherwise it looks like a decent replacement for my older laptop whenever it bites the dust (or I decide to convert it for use somewhere else)."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." No support for dragonfly...Chrome OS .
On the plus side... low power long battery life and don't have to worry about viruses and pop up ads and all that MS windows stuff..
Very lightweight and starts up from cold in app 9 seconds. My New Year's resolution is 3840 × 2160

Ok, I've had mine for about six weeks now and really like it. None of the Windows hassles, very fast, no bs. If you're looking at the Acers, go with the C720, not the C710, it's a whole different machine, better in just about every way. Mainly it has the 4th generation Haswell Celeron procceser. This makes a lot better performing and greatly improves the battery life. As far as gaming goes, don't expect much there, it's just not meant for that. The only software or apps you can install are from the Google Web store, not the Andriod Play store. No windows apps, programs, or drivers. If you want to print from it you will have to use a cloud ready printer, or a non cloud ready printer connected to a windows or mac computer. All of the HP e printers work fine with a Chromebook. Don't be afraid to go with the 2GB ram model, it handles many open tabs at once, even streaming video. The 4 GB model is very hard to come by now. It's $50 more anyway. Anything you want to know about Chromebooks can be answered on this Chromebook Central, here's a link to it. Have fun.

Yeah, it's really hassle free. There are quite a few apps that work offline too.Larry
