DCM Timewindows 1Av Vandy 2cs, and others
I am still trying to move in a different direction and have 3 contenders Wish I could get them all together but that is not happening fundswise. The SDAs and Infinitys I do have together.
PolkSDA2Bs which I own and are upgraded Maybe moving on from these.
Vandy 2CEs Have had them before but had to sell them. I can get another pair localy but no home trial. More depth, tighter bass, tighter imaging then the SDAss but not as wide of a stage . Close but not quite. Almost to clear sometimes. Metal dome tweeter??
Infinity RSIII Very pretty Have them on loan but have to make a move soon Tighter bass then the SDAs A little more transparent and more depth out in front of the speakers. Voices are out front. Very wide and tall image Lifelike size. One thing is that when listening to these I do not miss the stage width of the SDAs like I did with the Vandersteens. Not as rich as the SDAs My wife commented on a Bonnie Raitt live track that it sounded slightly clinical Not the best recording
NEW DCM Timewindow 1A We carried smaller DCMS when i was in the biz but not this one How would this compare to the above offerings??
I have go by what i can afford (which is not much) and what is around locally fun fun fun.

I've had a pair of TimeWindow 3s and have heard 1As. They are a great sounding speaker. They sound very similar to your description of the Vandys. I could easily live with a set of TimeWindows but prefer SDAs, particularly modded SDAs. The SDAs have more slam which I prefer, not to mention the SDA effect. The TimeWindows are no slouch however, and are a beautiful sounding speaker in their own right. One tip on the TimeWindows, they can be a little dark sounding and to my ears and experience sound better with solid state amps with at least 150-200 watts per channel over lower powered tube amps.

I got my feet wet w/ DMC w/ the Time Frame series. I have TF350s and wish I moved on a set of 600s which I gave the lead to another Polkie. Moving on to Vandersteens I did get to hear both 2CE a beautiful walnut topped set and then the 3a signatures. I have to say I think for the cash DMC are the best bargain in vintage speakers. I never did get to hear the Time Window series of which the 7s are said to be the best but only 200 sets were ever made. My modded 2Bs are better than the 350s but not by that much and again the 2ce/ci if you get the butyl surrounds are generally a great deal.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E
