Going to be in the area for the next few days, and was wondering if anyone knew of any good HiFi shops. I've done some searching on-line, and haven't really come up with much. Mostly just home theater oriented shops. I would actually kind of like to find a place to pick up a good set of headphones. Anyway...Would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.

Hi,
I've not found a real hifi shop in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Been here nearly four years. If you find one, let me know.
What brings you to not-so-sunny-at-the-moment Florida?

Bummer. Just here for a few days trying to help my dad sort out some care options for my grandmother.
Was kind of amusing hearing everyone complain about the cold today. Especially considering it was -13 with -40ish windchills yesterday when I left Iowa. I got a pretty good laugh when my phone popped up a "windchill alert" here for Port Charlotte stating that windchills were going to dip into the +30 range. lol. Guess it's all relative.
Anyway...Thanks for chiming in, and saving me from more searching.

Hi Dave,
Ft. Meyers is a much higher population center. You might find something a little farther south of PC.
Yeah, relativity is a mother. I grew up in the Midwest and worked outside when I was young. Never thought a thing of the cold. I can't take these "chilly" upper 30's/low 40's days now.
Best wishes for your grandmother.

I bought my first serious hifi system, Polk10b's, rotel CD player and luxman r-115 receiver from a shop in Tampa. That was 1986 or 87... I wish I could remember the name and wonder of they're still around.“Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'”

Looks like I would have to drive at least an hour + to find anything worthwhile.
Thanks for the wishes!HT
