Center Channel Speaker Recommendation?
My current setup is the following:
L/R: VM20
Center: RM85 center
rear L/R: VM10
Sub: microDSW 1000
Receiver: Denon AVR-2809
The problem is even after considerable time playing with the settings, the sound when playing music feels like something is missing in the mid-range region and I am wondering if the problem is the center channel speaker.
Additional information--
Room size: 22'x32' with vaulted ceiling
Crossover Frequency and Channel Level
L/R (front): 80Hz; -5.5db
Center: 120Hz; -4.5db
rear L/R (surround): 100Hz; -6.5db
LFE (sub): 100Hz; +1.5db - I overlapped it with the fronts on purpose to fill mid-range base that 'appears' to be lacking.
Would a replacement center channel such as TL3 solve the problem or am I missing something else? I already know the sub is too small for the room because a PSW 350 filled the range better than the microDSW1000, but the clarity of the 1000vs350 is considerably better.
The original system in the room was a RM6600 system with PSW350 sub. Great product and I upgraded it with the RM85 with microDSW1000. Turns out I did not like the RM85 setup at all so I replaced it with the VM20/10 but kept the center speaker due to cost. The VM20/10 provided a vast improvement over the RM85 setup but something just feels missing in that mid-range.

I found on eBay a new VM10 unopened and replaced my RM 8 center....problem solved. The RM 85 series really lacked to punch to my ears.Zone 1

Yeah, a matching center channel makes all the difference. Glad to hear it worked out for you!Home Theater: LG 60PB450; Pioneer Elite SC55; RT2000P; RT55P; CS400p; FX500; SVS PB12-Plus/2; PS3 360GB
