Which sub?
Which sub would be the best fit for my 7.1 setup and room size? I currently have my setup in an 18 x 13 room and have the PSW650. I love the sub, but it's physically too big and I can't find the best location for it since it won't fit in most locations that would provide the best bass. I am currently looking at either the 550wi or the Micropro1000. I know the room is on the small side, but for now that's the room that's available. Eventually I hope to have it set up in a larger room.
My current speaker setup is:
Front: 1.2TL
Center: CSI 5
Surrounds: LS/FX
Surround Back: TSi100
Sub: PSW650

I would look at either the SVS PB 1000, for HT, or SB 1000 for music. Whichever is you want to emphasize on. May also want to look at HSU STF-2. Between the 2 you mentioned, I would lean towards the micropro myself.

How does adding a small subwoofer with 1.2TL work?

My only issue with the MP 1K is that that is a small sub for your size room albeit it does play bigger than it's size and it needs a subdude if you are going to crank it on bare floor.
The 3000 might be a better choice and if you are patient, newegg runs sales on them for about the same price as the 1k.My New Year's resolution is 3840 × 2160

Well if you want to tell me how to get the LFE routed to the 1.2TLs instead of rolling your eyes, let's hear it.How does adding a small subwoofer with 1.2TL work? :rolleyes:Driver carries only 20 dollars in ammunition

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out on newegg. So the 550wi is basically a no go? Never heard one and wondered how it would compare to my PSW650. I don't need as much as the 650 puts out, so I'm not opposed to a smaller sub.

I find the 1.2TLs just right for musical bass, so I'm looking for one to handle the LFE.Driver carries only 20 dollars in ammunition

I had a PSW350 in a 22'x32' room with vaulted ceiling and it did a decent job. I upgraded it with a DSW microPRO 1000.
Pros/Cons
* The 1000 has outstanding clarity over the 350
* The 350 produces a softer sound (negative point), but has better sound range (positive point).
Turning up the volume on the 1000 to 'compensate' does not produce a fuller sound, it only makes what it can produce louder.
My advice is to consider the DSW microPRO 3000 as a baseline minimum to get the proper sound producing range with the outstanding clarity the DSW series offers over the PSW series.Zone 1

There is an open box 1/2 off DSW microPRO 3000 on newegg right now in fact. Do I need another sub...

I love my 650, but it's too big (physically) for the room. It cannot fit in most areas a sub would, and stands out in all other areas. I'm looking for a nice and simple LFE sub. When the day comes that I have more room, I'll bring the 650 back out or go with a larger sub.
I guess I could wait a little longer and add some money to the sub fund and get the MP3000....Driver carries only 20 dollars in ammunition

Oh I love the sub, but it's too big for the room. There are only two places it can go and each of those spots puts it out in the open and in the way. Not only that, but it's not the ideal location for use. If it were under 17" in height and width, I could make it work. Also, I'm not looking for more bass, just something to bring the LFE to life and take on the bass from the surrounds. You forget how much the sub does for those small speakers until you run it without the sub.Driver carries only 20 dollars in ammunition
