Not a good start of the 2014 year in getting Polk Speakers... :(

Okay, saw an ad yesterday evening and got excited.
It mentioned "Quality Stereo System".
The pictures had Polk SDA-2 with Luxman amplifier (probably R-117), CD, dual turntable etc... for $125.
Emailed with phone number and hoped a great start of 2014.
However, didn't get reply until this morning and the reply was this.

"Since I've posted this listing, I've had over 20 people wanting to buy the stereo ( all within the first 2 hours). I've obviously under priced it. If you are still interested, you can make me an offer. "

As soon as I get a reply like that, my reply is always,
I'm not into bidding game. Thanks for reply.

Looks like someone got quality gears for who knows how much...
Anyone here grabbed them?

Ya not sure if it was inherited but I would pay $125 easily just for the speakers alone.
The Luxman amp brings more than $300.
I hate when people do this.
Why not just put $800 price and see what offers he gets instead of putting a low price and then starting a bidding game?

Looks like someone wised up but it would be nice if they did a little research before posting such an ad. At least he gave an honest reply. It stinks to be on this end of it though. I have been there more than a few times.

I "rarely" side with people who do this kind of thing. But in "this" case, I do have to say that 125 IS too low and depending on what the NEW price is, I have to say, yeah, he did price it TOO LOW and has a right to rethink this as long as he doesn't move from TOO LOW to the astronomical? lol

Offer him $375 and see where it goes if he says not enough stop there and let it fester, and see if its still available after a couple of days pass.

That's not as bad as a CL experience I had a few years back. A guy posted an ad for a non working Sansui G-22000 for $200. It looked to be in nice shape with any missing knobs or anything, I figured for $200 it was worth taking a chance on. The post was about 10 minutes old when I saw it, called the number, talked with the owner, struck a deal at $200. I told the owner I had to stop and get some cash and that it would take me 30-40 minutes to get to his place to pick it up, he says no problem he'll have it waiting. When I get to the guys house, he tells me he's sorry but someone offered him $400 and he's going to sell it to him. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but if I make a deal with someone, I'm going to honor that deal no matter what.

I've got one even better than that. There was 3 pieces of vintage tubed Mcintosh gear on craigs earlier this year for a c note. It had only been up for a few minutes when I called and talked to the seller. She tells me someone was on their way to pick it up and would call me back if they didn't want it. Of course I never heard back but I did see the same Mac gear listed on Craigs the next week for thousands more $$. Can't get em all and it ain't worth getting worked up over a missed opportunity. Gotta admit though that one did spoil my day.

I have a couple of flippers in my area that have absolutely morals. I'll see stuff in the local thrifts, then see it later on CL for significantly more than the thrift was asking. This summer there was a beat up Parasound HCA-1000 with one channel out for $60. I passed, then saw it a few days later on the bay for $180 BIN. The pictures the seller were small and sufficiently blurry so you couldn't tell how beat up the thing was.
