My room is 16x20x8 high...my local Future shop has the velodyne cht 12 but not the polk audio 505 sub...but said they can order them in. I want good strong bass... the RMS specs on the velodyne are 165 watt and the polk audio 505 are 300 watts RMS...will this make much of a difference? I was told that the velodyne was a very good sub. Just maybe one of you guys have heard a comparison on both of these subs...your replys would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!

    Neither?

www.adireaudio.com (I think thats their website)

Polk makes OK subwoofers, and so does Velodyne, for your money -- them companies above will suit you better.

If I had a choice, I'd have to go with the Velodyne, well actually possibly the Polk. Not sure which one is more accurate.....

I think the 505 hits a little lower better. However the CHT12 and CHT15 can take a lot of abuse.

I am guessing that you are in Canada since you were at Future Shop. If I was you I would buy a Paradigm subwoofer. That's what I did. I was looking at the Velodyne CHT-12 for $750 CDN but ended up with my beloved Paradigm PW-2200 V.2 for just a little more money, and I think the PW-2200 would destroy the CHT-12 in almost every way, especially for the money. I heard the CHT-12 and was not all that impressed.

If you want to spend a little less than I did, you can look at the PW-2100 or even the PS Series or PDR Series. The Paradigm's are just a exceptional value for those in Canada.

    Where about are you located?
    Main System:
    Denon AVR-2805, Polk Audio RTi70's, Polk Audio CSi40, Polk Audio FXi50, Paradigm PW-2200 v.2, Toshiba 42XV545U HDTV

    Second System:
Denon AVR-1705, Polk Audio R40, Polk Audio CS245i, Polk Audio R15, Paradigm PS-1200a

I agree with Glemay, Paradigm is a no brainer if you live in Canada. The PDR12 is $590, the ps1000 is $690 and ps1200 is $790. The actual price you would pay is at least $40-50 less. Go to www.Paradigm.ca and find a local dealer. You should at least demo them and any others they have.
