DXi 1240 DVC for home use?

I've purchased all my HT equipment except for the sub. I bought a DXi1240DVC on sale @ BB for $50. It's still in the box collecting dust and since all my HT speakers are polk I was wondering if This sub could be used as my HT sub. I see polk reccomends 2 box options one sealed other ported but no specs on what the sub will do in either enclosure. Im looking for my sub to reach down to the 20-30hz range for movie watching and provide tight accurate bass (NOT BOOMY) for music.

Does anyone have any info or suggestion on for the DXi1240DVC for home use. Im also considering the BIC f12 or one of the higher end Dayton Audio 15" subs. Any help would be welcome!
