Just purchased a new yamaha RX-V475 to replaced my old 5550. It gave me many years of great service but finally passed on. Any suggestions as to what speakers would compliment my new receiver?

    Welcome to Club Polk!

Are you thinking of Polk speakers? If so, probably M series, TSI, or the new TSIx would sound good with that receiver. The RTi-A series might be too bright. And you don't have enough power to run even higher model Polks.

    There are other possibilities.

That question is too vague and has too many possibilities. I can tell you what won't sound good with it, RTI-RTIA speaker lines may be too bright as a combo with that receiver.

Besides, we can't hear with your ears. Go listen to some and find a brand you like, what we like means diddly squat in the end. I know that doesn't help you much, but without a budget, room size, associated gear, if a subwoofer will be used, your musical preferences.....not much we can add.

You'll need something with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, and very efficient. HT receivers typically don't have a lot of power (watts oror high current delivery) so you'll have to be careful not to over drive it. Had a quick look and it doesn't appear to have pre outs, so you can't hook up an external amplifier. Build quality seems to be typical Yamaha = very good.

I have a Yamaha TSR 7650 and am running TSX 550's and I love them. There's not a lot of reviews on them but I'm trying to change that lol. I looked at my potential 5.1 system as a whole and all the components were reviewed well(Google the Home Theatre Review of the TSX 220b's for instance),and i listened to them against speaker lines costing twice as much and felt the TSX line was a much better value.

I have that same receiver and just bought a pair of Tsx440t and a Tsx250c and I'm very happy with them. :)

Awesome! Did u have the chance to test the 150c against the 250? If so was there a big difference?

I didn't. I went for the bigger drivers of the 250.
