64yrs young - got PLAYSTATION 3 slim for Xmas - what do I need to know?

...already ordered the motion and camera that my Godchildren have. Ordered the sports motion series 1 and 2.

...looking for other ideas to put this to good use. Also got Tiger Woods 12 Master collection. Seems like a good workout at home.

- any ideas appreciated. Non violent games ???? Single player?? Best graphics???

Any ole timers out there with a Play Station?

This is my only Blue Ray Player....have a Visio 32" lcd with 720dpi. Any dvd's to take advantage?

Do I need to upgrade HDTV to 1080?

I like the disc golf that's on the sports disc.

The TW golf you're getting is good too.

I seldom play, but I've always enjoyed the sports games (Madden, NCAA, MLB, etc).

I'd say only upgrade the TV if you want to get something bigger. I wouldn't replace it with a 32" 1080.

Not exactly an old timer (42) but I'll answer the best I can.

TW Masters is a good game. Be warned though, If you play it with the motion controller ( Move) be sure that

1. You have plenty of room, don't want to take anything out during your backswing.

2. If you have a slice or hook in real life the Move will pick up on it. Meaning you will have a slice or hook in the game.

3. At 32 in you would have to sit 2ft from the tv to see a difference between 1080p and 720p. If you can swing it go at least 50in.

4. If you have a Redbox near you , you can rent games and see if you like them before you buy. If you like RPG's I would recommend Skyrim.

My favorite two ps3 games are The Last of Us and Red Dead Redemption. They are both action games and do have some violence.

I spent the morning buying the
added accessories and games. I ordered the Move Motion controller and eye
camera. Also the 2 Sports Champions Series game collections and the Tiger Woods
Golf...all for the Move Motion series. Maybe I can "exorcize" with these games.

...Thank you for feedback. Got a few games iin the mail today. Still waiting on the motion detector. Will hook it up this weekend. Still looking for a driving game. I have an old driving arcade machine in my basement....probably from the 50's. Chain drive with full size steering wheel and gas and brake pedals. Not used in 25 years.

non violent games, I only know Madden football, sorry, with the occasional need for speed series racing
but, I will be getting a sony blu ray player to keep my wifes hands off the game console, she has the just leave the dvd's layin around sickness, but that is a strong feature, the blu ray movie end of it, we also use it to stream netflix and amazon and some others.....I have some other older football games as well, madden 13, 11 and ncaaf 11, and a shooting game/war game of some kind, and the wife has a zombie game

You must get the Uncharted games. I think they made 3 of them, they all get better than the last. They were also game of the year for each one I believe.
There is some violence, but it is like being part of a Hollywood movie with a great story line. Little bit of an Indiana Jones feel.

Very good games, you will not be sorry.

If you really want to step up the fun and spend a little uneccesary money...there are several racing games out there. If you have the space, going with at least a 50" screen will really add to the experience on the higher graphic games. Also, having a surround system with a nice sub will take games to the next level. For racing games like Gran Turismo, Need For Speed, WRC 3, etc. having a racing wheel and pedals is a must have item! I like the Logitech Products.

I really like Gran Turismo 6 for a PS3 racing game. Tons of fun, and the "licenses" you achieve in game help you to improve your fundamentals. The girl tried a basic track on GT6 last night, and her reaction as soon as she was done was "OK, can I go again?"

I also have a logitech wheel/pedal combo, but it's sitting up in the junk room right now.

All of the sports games are good clean fun. You could also consider one of the Little Big Planet titles, or any of the Lego titles as well (Lego Marvel superheroes looks pretty incredible.)
