What is a better music speaker, RtiA7 or RtiA5

A lot of discussion about the a5 and a7 but which one would be better for listening to two channel music? Both will have a couple psw505s available to them for bass if needed. Thinking if the A7 in full range mode without the subs would be better than the A5s with subs or maybe the a7s with the subs? The receiver is a Pioneer Elite sc63. The speakers will mostly be used for ht but sometimes I like to listen to some background music.

Well, generally speaking the more of the sound spectrum you can get out of your speakers so everything else being equal (and I think it is) I'd go with the larger speaker in the 7.

I've never heard the A7's but i can attest to the A5's capabilities. Running in full range, without a sub, i found them to be a very able speaker. I'm am no bass head but they were able to produce plenty to make me happy.Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!!

The A7's strong point is in home theater use. I own the A9's and still think to this day that the A7's sounded better in the home theater use. Maybe it was the power I was supplying them compared to the A9's but they just had that edge over speakers that I have heard before. In home theater use they are crystal clear, fast to response and very open with the sound. Very big home theater sound stage if not toed in too much. It was in the details with movies with things like breaking glass, pin drops, cracking ice, high pitch sounds that made the A7's really stand out for me. I would use sub woofer 100% of the time in Home Theater and paring them with what you mentioned would be great. I tried them without a sub and they are underwhelming. Yes they have bass but not the floor rumbling bass that you require that only a sub woofer can supply.
I did not use a sub woofer with music and the A7's sounded fine. Not earth shattering but they were nice to listen to. At reference levels they excelled in Jazz, light rock, instrumental and did okay with other types of music. They handled the highs in music great like they do with movies. They are a very detailed speaker and in my opinion did not do well with hard rock music or heavy bass. That is why I went with the A9's. The A9's do well with everything that I throw at them but they do lack that high that I got from the A7's in home theater. Hope this helps and its only my opinion on the A7's. Sorry never owned the A5's. -
My take is that the 5 has the extra midrange driver, and if you have one or two good subwoofers already, you're not going to miss the dual bass drivers in the 7, so the 5 is the better value and the better sound in my book. I think the 5's rock the house.

I think I'll stick with my 5s, the 7s I found are cherry finish and although beautiful on their own, would look out of place in my decor
