I finally have the last pieces to use my new HT setup. First time I've not had a "packaged" set. I have the Rti8's up front. Rtia6 and center and Rtia3's for bookshelf a in the rear. I also have a klipsch 12" sub.

My wife bought me a Yamaha V-375 for Christmas. She doesn't know it but I bought the Yamaha V673 when it was on sale at amazon for $300 a month ago. Which should I return? I assume the 375, but just wanted to run it by you experts. Thanks for your help!!

You could return them both, and step up to the Aventage series.

Something I just thought of...the V673 is a 7.2 system. Will it work with my 5.1 setup?

^ No, you'll have to buy 2 more speakers and another sub as well............ Joking. It would be fine, it just gives you room to expand later if you desire to.
2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

+1 on what Tnhndyman said about you being fine with a 7.2 or 7.1 system. Deciding between the V375 or V673, I would pass on both and go with the older model Yamaha V663 , like the one deronb1 has in the flea market. Sometimes older is better . Concerning Yamaha's 7.2 marketing , the subwoofer outs are connected to each other so I would think it's still just 7.1.

I agree with returning both, if you can, and looking for a Yamaha Aventage. Neither of the ones you have are equipped with pre outs, which would allow you to add an amp down the road for more power and clarity in your sound. You may not think you need the extra power now, but a lot of us thought that way at one time and ended up upgrading. The cheapest of their Aventage series that comes with pre outs is the RX-A1020 I believe. Listing at $799 at Amazon, you may find it cheaper at Newegg, you need to request a price there on that product. The thing is, Yamaha makes great receivers and I think an Aventage like this one would stay in your system for many years while you make other upgrades as time goes by. If your only choices are the 2 you have now, definitely keep the 673. Once you settle, enjoy your new stuff!
