New McIntosh Gear

Switched gears completely from my Parasound JC2 and Bel Canto Ref500ms to McIntosh C2300 and MC302. So far I'm very happy with the change. The JC2 and Bel Cantos were incredible, clear, gobs of detail but I felt they were a little thin sounding with the Logans. The Mac combo provides a fuller more natural sound than the previous gear and I don't feel I am losing anything. A big plus is that I can listen to it for hours on end with no listener fatigue. The functionality of the C2300 for my needs is also superior to the JC2. I love the triggers for the amp and even my Wyred DAC-2 is now triggered. HT bypass is great, whenever I turn on my receiver all the Mac gears fires up in passthrough mode. I also like the ability to adjust all input levels. The negative is that my back still freakin hurts from lugging the MC302 into the house. I also want to thank Audio Classics who gave me a great deal on the MC302.

Very nice. I picked up the 352 with the C-45 preamp at Audio Classics a couple years ago. I was lucky enough to meet and deal withFrank Grow, who has now left us. I had an opportunity to upgrade the 352 to a pair a 501 mono blocks. My next step or dream is the MC 2200 or the MC 2300 to switch out the solid state C-45 to a tube preamp. ENJOY!

Yep, Gold Lion gold pin re-issues. Better across the board compared to stock tubes IMHO.

Polki2 ,That is very nice stuff and I always drool when I see Mac stuff.I have to tell you I can't ever remember seeing a big Mac amp or any amp on the top shelf. It sits in a position of authority for sure and I hope your stand is up to the task.Me I would like onthe small side a 2105 and maybea 2250 or go like Jery did and have a Mac 2300. I don't care about the fans the tunes would drown that instantainiously.Call me mr envious....

I have had the MC302 for about 8 years now and it stills performs perfectly, not a single issue ever. However, with it inside my Salamander double wide cabinet along with all my other gear including HT receiver, SACD player, DAC, and turntable the cabinet was just a pain in the arse to move anytime I wanted to change a component or cable.

I decided the MC302 amp was the logical thing to jettison to reduce weight I researched many lighter replacement amps including many of the class D amps, but didn't find anything that jumped out at me. Instead, during the amp search I ended up lusting for a McIntosh MC462 - lol. It's even heavier than the MC302! Oh well, to compensate I decided to move to a single wide Salamander cabinet and off board the MC462 to a separate amp stand with casters.

Now just the 2 month or more wait to get the MC462 due to COVID backlog.

You will be very happy with the MC462. Its a great next logical step.
