I just bought: 'Yamaha A-S2000SL Natural Sound Stereo Amplifier"

Somebodies on here kept posting "it's better to ask forgiveness than permission." I will likely soon find out IF there's any truth to that in her house.
Dang Amazon Warehouse "used" deals. Bezos cut another $180 off a silver A-S2000 overnight. Chase Rewards pressured me with 5% cash reward on Amazon, which offsets in-state taxes down from ~ 8%. I could sense my BP rising like a hot nurse had my wrist . . . I could of talked myself out of it IF she hadn't been a silver A-S2000. My first love was a CA-600; I bought another after she was stolen.
Naturally, since I live here in Dryhole, KS, there was nowhere to sit in front of an A-S2000 & vicariously enjoy the "natural sound" while I fended off a salesperson.
WTFHIFI tried to disuade me: "A big, powerful, attractive amp, but the overly relaxed attitude puts it behind similarly priced rivals."
But then some AudioCircle actual owners went on about 400 hrs "burn-in." And others on Audiogon whispered "I feel the Yamaha amp is on a higher level sonically speaking. It just sounds more resolving and more refined. The soundstage is wide and open, the mids are liquid and the bass control is in Bryston category nothing less." Then he goes on with "Sounds are so subjective and it is pointless for me to rave on. Is it the best sound I ever heard in an integrated? Up to maybe $3K and maybe more, from past experience, for sure. And I would even put separates in this field. I just find it very satisfying." His last straw drove home like a twister had buried it in a hedge fencepost: " it is not just about those extra XLR inputs on the 2000."

Here's hoping it arrives while she's at work. Wish me forgiveness, Polkies.

H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music. -

Wichita had a high end stereo shop I used to frequent, Custom Sound, near Oliver & Lincoln. Later, Hillside N of Oliver. They carried Bang & Olufsen, Klipsch, Nakamichi, Thorens & Yamaha, that I recall. Working @ the new Mall Cinema on Harry in 1972, I bought a belt drive Pioneer TT @ a shop in the mall. Then went to Custom Sound. The owner, PJ, asked my budget & suggested I get the Yamaha CA-600 & Beovox 3702s.
CA-600 ~ 1972
A-S2000 2013
~ 1974, this system was stolen. As I had renter's insurance, I went back to Custom Sound & replaced the CA-600 & 3702s; and added a Beogram 3000. The speakers & TT are shown in the attached page from the Bang & Olufsen cataglog I still have!
I've refoamed the 3702 woofers twice. I have some "AR" Taiwanese woofers in the closet to replace them, as one of the B&O's rubs slightly when pressed by hand.
The B&O gear was advertised as being in the Museum of Modern Art. The Yamaha CA-600 was garage-saled ~ 1992, one channel out (who knew about DeOxit?). The 3000 had a motor replaced ~ 1978; but was inoperable & sold in the same garage sale.
I will likely pair the A-S2000 to Polk RT7s. I'll take a look @ the 3702s Xovers & hope to have a Japanese > Danish 1970s look again.
