Well planned on going ice fishing this morning but after seeing the weather forecast last night I decided to sleep in. I could not imagine putting up the ice shanty with wind chills at -25. I get woken up by the wife asking me to venture out in the cold to get a can of onions for the green bean casserole. The dogs don't even want to go out, it's amazing the noises your truck makes when it is that cold. Oh we'll the cold woke me up stay warm everyone and enjoy the Holidays.

    Dang!

    That is *dangerous* cold!

Pile some logs next to the fireplace, get the fire going, pour something to warm the insides, and spend the day listening to music!

Was -17 according to my weather station on the patio this morning...wife said it dropped to -19 before the sun came up.

I don't mind the cold with remote start...just wish it would turn on my heated seats and heated steering wheel too.

No heated seats or remote start in the ol 4x4. I did start it went back inside let it run for 15 minutes then went to Hy-Vee got the onions, I don't think the heater warmed up by the time I got home.

Yeah, Sal, you had much chance to play with it in the cold to see how it's different?

I love the way the first handful of shift feel in my 6-speed manual Fusion on days like today (hit maybe -5°F) after it's been parked outside. Feels like the tranny fluid is pancake batter or something.

    "-15 below zero this morning"

-3 was today's forecast for NE KS & then a strong S wind came up & blew it your direction.

A Ft. Riley duck hunter lost his life in Milford Reservoir ~ 0730 this morning. A downed duck landed out on some thin ice; he & partner took a "makeshift small boat" w/no motor out to get it. The strong S wind blew them out farther & the boat started taking on water. He got on some ice, called 911 on his cell, & fell thru the ice. His partner made it back to shore in the "boat."

Geary Co. sheriff suspended recovery operations, as all the boat ramps are covered in ice. Said they're looking for the CoE to send over a boat from Tuttle Creek Res w/side-scanning sonar later today. The CoE mgr from Tuttle is the husband of my wife's coworker. IMHO, it's too windy & cold to attempt a recovery. With heavy winter clothing, the body will not float for some time.

The first time he used the CoE side-scanning sonar was for the bodies of 3 (incl. 11YO boy) at John Redmond Res in Dec. 2010. The boy's body wasn't found until May 2011, once the lake level came down.

    RIP Soldier . . .

I love the heat, barely break a sweat, but cold weather and outdoor chores do not mix 56F in Pearland right now :-)

I lived 2 years in La,Mesa Went to Helix High school, I remember everyone would wear down jackets (remember those) when the temps dipped down in the 50's. I feel sorry for you and those frigid So Cal Temps. I still listen to KGB FM thanks to I heart radio.
