A new discovery for me has been a reggae-jazz guitarist Ernest Ranglin. Creative, skilled picking in front of relaxed rootsy band. Very unique. If you currently listen to jazz, this would make an easy transition to reggae.

There's some real good ska from the '80s, like Madness, The Specials, The English Beat, The Selector, etc. A good compilation is The Soundtrack From The Movie "Dance Craze."
