I need help. I have a psw1000 which dosent even turn on I called polk and there are no spare parts and they want no part of it. I even have tried to take it apart but i cant do that either. I cant get it open to even see if I could see anything so at this point i have several questions.
1) does anybody know how to get this thing open
2) If I cant open it or fix it can I hook up an external amplifier
3) is there someone who can fix this located on the east coast
Any suggestions, options, thoughs would all be appreciated

he's been a member since 2011...started the thread in Dec 2013...

I have the same subwoofer and just purchased an external Dayton SA1000 amplifier... I hear this will do the job....have you tried taking the sub plate off? you should be able to get that off rather easily.

those were very short lived from Polk....in fact they may of been recalled do not remember. I do know that for 3-4 yrs on eBay they were selling the carcass for a pittance and folks would just cover the hole and use external or bash amp from Parts Express as JuanR stated...

Most all had a plate amp problem so if you got this many years out of it consider yourself lucky in that respect.

Is the sub plate you are talking about the plate on the back with all the connections. I looked at that and couldn't figure out how to get it off. If i could get it off I would just do what you did. I am going to look at it again but if you have any more thoughts on it I would appreciate it.
