My subwoofer after serving the best it could for several years finally gave out. There is very little, VERY little, output when on movies and cd's. I tried putting the gains all the way up, recalibrated with MCACC, and tried every setting for my sub in the menu, no, yes, or plus. All yeilding the same results. But what can I expect, it was only $100, yes $100. My first sub I ever bought. Now I think amps are going to be put on hold until an new sub comes my way, unless anyone can think of anything else.

Now that I have to start saving for a sub instead of an amp, what would be good for $600 max limit. Space is an issue, I was thinking an RSW-10 from Klipsch, bought unauthorized of course. Or an SVS like the PB1-ISD, bordering on the too big for my room side, haven't taken measurements. Or the 25-31 PCi, I like bass, alot. What would be the best reccomendation? My room is small, 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 8 ft.

I agree with Loud. 20-39 PCi - small footprint and plenty of bass for a room that size and at a great price. What more could you ask for? Oh, satisfaction GUARANTEED? Well, ya got that too from SVS.

I've pretty much decided on the 25-31 PCi from SVS. Now, about the 22 Hz tune for free, how do you redeem that or inform them you want it, so in the future I know how.

In the comments block state that you want the 22 Hz tune. SVS hasn't missed a request yet.

BTW, the 25 Hz tuned port is about 12" long, and the 22 Hz tuned port is about 15" long. This is a very popular option with 25-31PCi buyers.

A lesser known option is the 17Hz tune on the 20-39PCi.

I would of course suggest that you build your own sub.

I've built my own sub, it was not difficult at all. All you need is a table saw. You can rent one from Home Depot if you need.

There are plenty of smart people on this site that can help.

If you spent half of your $600 budget on a DIY sub, you would have all the performance you'd need for a room that size, and still have $300 left for amps.

Here is a link to a thread about my sub:

Great to see that the doc is back, if even for only a post. Nice tidbit on the 17Hz tune, also.

    Thanks Doc, and welcome back.

Gmorris, I lookde into building my own sub and I thought about one of the Titanic MKlll's from parts express. But they are in a sealed box. Would that effect the sound? I think I would still rather stick with an SVS. Here's a link about HT on tech tv that shows an SVS in action.

Jdogg, thanks for the tech tv clip. That is good stuff. I have been wanting tech tv to do a 1/2 hour show (series) on home audio. That would be sweet. Thier is plenty of stuff out thier to fill the show every week.

Yea that would be cool. We have sattelite dish up at our lake home and digital cable here at home. I rarely get to watch it because it's at least 2 hrs. from us. But whenever I've seen it it's been pretty interesting. now about those Titanic MKlll's, are they worth trying before an SVS, they come with a 45 day money back guarentee.
