Wanting to upgrade sub(s). Can get two Velodyne DEQ 8Rs for 400.00 or a refurbed SVS SB1000 for 459.00. Lean towards music than movies. Thoughts?

Hmmmmmm...........I like the way you think! -
2 8's placed in different spots in the room will net flatter bass response, a 12 will have more headroom (assume amps are similar), but may sound worse if placed in a null spot."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. Would put the 8s next to the fronts (inside). They are ported and the SVS is sealed. Trying to get that nice tight punch without the boomyness like my JBL does now. -
Try moving the JBL to a few different spots across the room first. Unless the sub is crossed high, near the mains isn't usually the best placement. Sometimes the back of the room even works well."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. Have it crossed at 80hz. I would like to try 60 or 70, but the stupid Pioneer goes from 50 to 80. -
Ordered the 2 velodyne 8" subs. Should be here in a few days. Will give my impressions (if anyone cares)
