Got some Monitor 10B's this morning at the Flea Market for a whole C-note. I've been listening to them a while now, so when I see "they sounded fantastic" I know what people are talking about bc they do sound d*mn good, like wow! of course they don't have the bass like the RTA's do but the bass is very tight and clean like the RTA's.

I'll be using them as my HT mains. The cabs do have some signs of being old, one is scratched up on one side, other than that some dust on the woofers and pr's and a missing Banana plug cap, very small holes in the grills, maybe two or three. nothing major.

Cherry finish matches my component tower!! :D so happy, i've always wanted a pair!!

That's why there's so many of us into the vintage line of Polks that intend to stay there.

hahahahaha I know right! I already told my wife about crossover upgrades and getting new drivers but they sound soooooooo sweet, I listened to some of Dark Side of the Moon a while ago, talk about going back in time, these speakers are just for that kind of music.

    LOVE my 10Bs!

Step 1 - Get some stands to get them up off the ground with a slight back tilt. If you can't find any original Monitor 10 stands, they're pretty easy to make and the directions are around here somewhere.

Or put them on something they used to call "tip toes": essentially a way to couple speakers (or anything else) to the ground/floor that tends to focus/enhance the bass response.

Yes, i found those messing around the other day on this forum:) my wife may not go for the whole tilted thing though, does it matter if they're tilted?

I have some old ammo boxes I had my cv's sitting on and they worked great for those, but the 10's looked way too big on them, I may build some little stands, how far off the ground? just 8" or so? the ammo box is 10" I think.

Here are some pictures of some stands I threw together fo my 10a's. Having the crossovers rebuilt really made the 10a's sing.

I like that style stand. Here is a similar one I made a couple of years ago. Yours looks a little shorter.

Yes. Mine is the same design but only around 5" tall. Made from cheap wood, but they work great.

    Those are nice speakers Skip

I don't need them to be that high, 5" would work great. I found where someone measured out the original stands in a pdf and think they could be made with much difficulty.

They sound pretty sweet sitting on the floor too, only problem is is I have to sit on the floor to enjoy them
