Iam looking at the RTI8 for the front and the CSI5 for the center but would like to know if the added cost would be worth it.
if i did chose to make the move would I be able to still use my M40 series 2 for the rears or will it throw the sound off a bit?
I have 2 sets of M40 sereis2 on stands that i could use to run a 7.2 set up so i would like to keep them but i dont want the sound to suffer
thoughts please.
FYI iam new here this is my first post
thanks in advance

Welcome to Club Polk.
Are they an upgrade, yes. Worth it or not depends on your ears. I'd probably invest in the rest of the system before upgrading speakers unless a great deal came along. Using the 40's as surrounds would be fine. It's more important to keep your front stage from the same series, ie your L, R, and center speaker. What are your sources such as cd player, streaming from computer ect... Also what interconnects and speaker wire are you using now.
Everything in the chain of sound matters and depending on budget we can give you a better answer.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer. -

Well, if it were me, and I've heard Rti-8s and own M-70s. I wouldn't bother with that but move up at least to the Rti-10s (A7s). The CSi-5, though, is an improvement on the CS2!

You are going to gain some upper air and detail, and a bit of refinement overall along with extra brightness. You will lose a fair amount of bass and perhaps some midrange detail. I agree with CNH that the center is a pretty big improvement, but if you are going to spend the money go at least up to the rti10s.
Are you running an external amp? That would probably improve your experience more overall than changing speakers.

no amp i plan on getting a denon x4000 next month or so as of now i have a denon 2112 n it has no pre outs.
can the 2112 successfully power the rti10's / a7? -
I think the answer is yes, but not to their full potential. And you would want to be careful with the volume dial...underpowering is what blows tweeters...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

With no additional amp, I would tend to lean towards either the RTI8's or the 10's, but the 12's really need more power. I love the RTI8's that I purchased last month, but the recent price drop on the 10's makes them pretty appealing.

I am stuck on I want the rti10 cause they are affordable but the A7 which I know are the same speaker just look sweet.was considering for fronts
A7 front
Csia6 center
Then perhaps do rti8 or the fxia6 for my rears.
The A7 in cherry look nice -
Have to third that. That Cherry finish on the Rti-As is really pretty and I only have the A3 bookies and the center in my basement HT. I also have some RTi-4s in black--while nice there is no comparison aesthetically!
I'd love to upgrade my HT mains to Rti-A9s in cherry but that's not in the budget at this point. Also might want to wait for Polk's next iteration of the Rti series--hint, hint!

My M70 in my HT setup sounded like different speakers when I had them connected to my Bryston amp. Maybe get External amp(s) vs upgrading speakers?
I feel like the speakers you're looking at are the same speaker as the monitor series.
If youre looking to step up to something like the A7 for 500 a pop you should look into buying something better than polk.
Check out the Motion 20 from Martin Logan. If you want detail, that ribbon tweeter will give you detail.

But I think you should just keep the M70s, they are great speakers. They need more power to really shone though.
The CS2 center could be better but it sounds good when matched with other polk M series speakers.B&W CM9Classé Sigma -
From wat I read the rtia should be a step above

I currently use M70's for music and movies. I think if it were me I would upgrade the receiver and amp, interconnects and speaker cable first. Once that is in place then consider a speaker upgrade.
I stitched together my components pretty cheaply, with budget priced lc-1 interconnects from blue jeans and their ten white speaker cable. The 70's can reward much better sound with a decent amp and cables.Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. But the finish in cherry us o so pretty lol
