Well, I've decided to move on from a 2ch amp to a 5ch. I love the Parasound so I'm going to stick with the brand. There are 2 that I have my eye on, the 5250 and the 2205AT. The 2205 is cheaper used and has more current. The 5250 is newer however and prices stay around $500-$600 more. Is it worth it? What would you guys do?

Another side question, is there really any difference in cross channel talk?? I have to experience with this phenomenon. Do you really notice it??

Anybody possibly interested in a Parasound 2250??? haha!

I remeber reading that the 5000 series amps were just not that impressive and fell short in terms of sound quality compared to the older series. You might do some research. The downside of the older 2000 series amps is they are more than likely going to need some maintenance, so have a good amp guy ready and accessible. It's not a given that you will get one that needs work, but given the age those amps now are like classic cars, great if you can trust someone to keep them running fine, otherwise could just be a big PITA!

You could always get a trusted 2ch Parasound like the 1500a for the 12s and let the Onk handle the center and rears.

Buy a 3 channel parasound and use the better sounding amp with the 12's and use the other channels (from both amps) for the surrounds and center. Just trying to make things harder. Have fun.

Hca2003's are not nearly as easy to find tho! Half the fun is in the shopping haha!

    Good point!

Anyone else have any experience with either amp or possibly both? Seriously thinking about dropping my 2250 in the FS ads since I still have the boxes and packing. Then going to go after a 2205at.

The risk you run with an older 2003 or 2205 is the possibly of it 'going bad' due to age. I had a 2003 and did some research on having it serviced.....it was at least a couple hundred bucks + shipping both ways for a heavy piece of gear...my best guess was a minimum of 300ish to have my 2003 serviced. I would go with the newer 5250 for HT OR just buy a couple more 2250's and you'll be set...its easy to spend other peoples money.
