Had a friend call me up an hour ago telling me there was a pair of Sansui speakers at Goodwill for $30. They sent me a pic and I went down and grabbed them on the stands. The cabinets are rough but the rounds are perfect. No damage to any of the tweeters or drivers. Hooked them up to a test amp I have downstairs and they sound pretty good. Will open them up and get the values on the caps so I can get the replaced. I will probably run them with the Eico ST40 after I get that thing rebuilt. I like them so far.

There is vintage and then there is "vintage". Those are probably best on a low power amp from that time, from the time when putting as "many" drivers as you could in a less than adequately sized cabinet. I don't know how much I would worry about those crossovers (though of course replace the old caps), because they were probably an afterthought.

Sansui, nice amps but Kabuki speakers, but then again you never know till you actually hear all that.

    Have fun!

Yeah these are just for fun. I will probably replace the caps with the same electrolytic from Erse. Not spending the coin to put in film caps. I'll play with them for awhile and then pass them on to someone in the family who doesn't sit on an exact "X" on the floor listening intently at every detail. :-)

One cool feature they have is two switches on the back where you can choose a soft, clear, or more mid in your music. They need cleaning.

I love the looks of many of the old speakers like the Sansui's/ Pioneers/ etc. WITH THE GRILLES ON. With the grilles of they just look.... well... kind of like the back of one of those cars plastered with as many bumper stickers as they could get on it. I remember early on picking up a pair of beautiful Pioneers with the wood lattice grilles. man were they gorgeous! Then I listened to them. Kind of like that beautiful woman that you just want to look at but hope you never need to listen to her.

Lol. They are busy behind those grills! I like the look also and will take some very fine grit sand paper to them then light oil/stain. The grills are real wood and in very good shape with only a nick or two. I ordered some Dayton caps last night for $30 and will install those when they arrive. Again they are not ear charmers but at that price I could not resist. I'll keep them for awhile then introduce some of my niece and nephews to 2 channel by handing them over to them. Hey.......you can listen to your iPhone through these they will exclaim. I guarantee they will sound better than skull candy earphones.
