multiple room question

okay i have two in wall speakers in the living room and two in wall speakers in the kitchen all the wires go to the living room. i was thinking of getting an older sony receiver with the a+b speaker options, but was wondering if there was a better option?

    It's all about the dollar. Do you want to stream music and have control from your phone or tablet? Do want want both pairs on a single zone?

    Pandora would be nice, i would not want separate amplifiers, and I'm not wanting to spend more than 400.
    single zone is all i need the rooms open to each other and the sound will be heard regardless.

    Usually back ground music doesn't require lots of power so a cheap 5.1 receiver and a Roku streamer via HDMI, which comes with apps. Set the receiver in 4 chl stereo. Hole setup up for around $300 or less and you could add a CD/DVD player or other source.

    This is the simplest cost effective solution before moving up to squeeze box/Sonos

    Buy a cheap receiver with A+B speaker switching off of craigslist.....and a Sonos for 400.
