Where can I find a transformer for a B&K CS 117 preamp?? Does anyone know the specs for it? Maybe I have one in something else ha ha. This seems to be a common problem with these thanks

You'd be better served buying a whole other unit on flea bay for the transformer. I've seen these units go for anywhere from 40 bucks to 150. Not really worth it imho.

I have read those threads before and do not see anywhere where I am told here is where i got it. Not even sure how good it is compared to say a hafler DH 110 or another B&K.

How do you know the transformer is nuked?Did you check the secondary voltages or for dc voltages on the PC board.

Any way looks like it requires a 36 VAC center tapped(2x15 volt) at .5 amp or more.

Because it has been removed from the unit by the original owner and opened up and because it is a common problem I found the one to get, I hope.. A guy who did this and was in those threads got this and it works Hammond 166J33 33vct 33va

OK Mine was apart so I have little to go on other then this picture. from the internet The picture may not show so here is the link

The 7th picture down I think.

    http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=100474.0

FYI my bad transformer had 3 wires on the secondary side two greens and one green and yellow and on the primary side a orange and red
The new one has the two greens and one green with yellow and two blacks on the primary side

I do not have the plug to board for the sec side but it has five pins and it appears the greens go on the end pins and the green and yellow ges tom the center pin

The primary side is comfusing Look at the picture where did the yellow and white come from.? They look like they are coming out of the transformer but my original only has red an orange What is with the orange and red in the picture? Thanks

The dual sets of primary wires allow for a choice of 115 or 230 volt operation.

OK Makes sense. When I get the transformer the two blacks go to to the fuse spade (where the yellow one is) and the hot on the back of the IEC (where the white one appears to be going. Correct?

Yes one of the black primary wires should be connected to the line(or hot)which should be the fused side. The other will be to the neutral side. Also like the tranformer in the pic the green with yellow on the secondary side will be the center tap which should be at the center pin location on the PC board.

OK Got it in and it powers up. I used a tuner and headphiones. I can here the tuner through all functions and even when it is off but the volume is very very low. Power supply caps?? diodes??
