Hey all. Just got my new Polks in on Monday and have them all set up. (Denon 1611)

My question is this. I went with 2 Monitor 70II a CS2 ( series2) Center and Monitor 30II for the rears.

They sound great but was wondering if I matched everything up right. Are the Monitor 30II and CS2 the best fit with the Monitor 70IIs?
Thanks in advance.

Speakers all match perfectly and that's a great setup, but honestly in the long run you'll want more power than the 1611. I had the 1911 and it clipped and fried a tweeter and I was only running the Monitor 60's and Cs1. I'd keep the volume down in the meantime but you'd really be surprised how much more sound you'd get from those 70's with some good high current power. Just my honest opinion, welcome to the forum and congrats on the speakers!

I will keep upgrading my AVR in mind. Thanks for the heads up. I have been playing some DVD-As near reference ( did so with my old Fluance as well) and so far these Polks have shined. Really been impressed with how well the highs sound.
Have had my eye on an Emotiva amp.

That's a great set up you've got. I started with that exact set up. Later added the 40's for a 7.1 set up.

As B Run mentioned, power is good. Some time down the road, if you can, the Monitor 70's respond very well to extra power.

Welcome to the club, be sure to post your progress and your impressions.

I don't think Emotiva would be too shabby with the M70's. They will wake up for sure, making you think you just got new speakers again. I've never owned the 70's but hear they are quite the power hungry speaker.

I concur, I added an Emotiva 200wpc X 3 amp to my 70's and they did much better for 2ch music.

Good to hear and you're definitely on the right track, hate to be the bearer of bad news but the 1611 does not have pre outs for adding an external amp.

I know. It's a limited AVR. Stop gap I never got around to replacing. Will most likely go Denon again, my last Onkyo was like a damn hot plate.

Gotcha just making sure, yeah Onkyo's tend to run really hot and usually aren't as reliable. Good luck and keep us posted for sure!

Just really got into the audio side of my setup a few years ago. Was always a video guy. Discovered multi channel music discs and got hooked. Building up a little at a time.
Wish I had an extra $10,000 laying around to really play with this . LOL

Hot running power usually indicates a higher class A bias, which is a good thing. Not really sure why so many people think it's bad. God forbid they ever get a pure class A or tube amp.

They seem to be broke in now. While I do enjoy them I seem to have an upgrade itch. Going to fight that urge right now. Any upgrade will be on the equipment end not speakers right now.
