Has anyone removed the speaker cloth from an RTA 12 top hat and cleaned it. I have one that the cloth is in bad shape and was going to experiment. Thinking maybe hand wash with some Woolite and air dry.

I've used mild soap and hand washing in the tub for some historically. After a couple runs of that I just had them pro done with new, better fabric.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Thanks for the input. Did you have an upholstry shop make new ones?

I'm wondering if an expedient way to deal with them (since a lot of them seem faded) would be to fill a tub up with RIT black dye and just dunk them. The fabric seems durable/doesn't seam to wear, it just seems like they fade.

The cloth on mine is not really faded. I removed them and hand washed them in Woolite and let them air dry. They were quite dirty but cam out great. Bought new screen spline and put them back together. Look almost new.
