GW Find! Oppo DV-981HD

I just found an Oppo DV-981HD at the local Goodwill. Plays SACD, DVD-A, HDCD etc. All for $20 including remote and power cord.

Anyone got any info on this unit? How would it compare to a Denon DVD-2910?

    Great buy but I would hang onto the Denon.

    I have been thinking about hot-rodding the Denon but the laser seems to be getting weak lately and not reading discs sometimes.

    Both are pretty old. Don't think it would be worth the investment IMO. Drive them till they drop.

    Depending on condition the 981HD model can still sell for up to $100 on Ebay. Certainly helps to have the remote, which doesn't always happen. The remote itself may be worth more than $20.
