Hi there,

I'm a Audio System Beginner and would appreciate if you could help me find a decent set of a receiver, speakers and subwoofer.
I've never had such separate audio systems but I would like to upgrade my music and movie life.

The purpose of the new audio system this time is mainly listen to music such as hiphop, R&B, pop, top 40, and also watch TV shows and movies.
Since I don't have much knowledge about such audio systems and would like to begin from small and not too complicated so I'm thinking of getting this receiver to connect with Polk speakers as well as a subwoofer (a subwoofer seems necessary for TSi400 to enjoy bass sound as far as I researched)

Receiver: Onkyo TX-8020 ($200)
Polk Audio TSi400 ($400)
Subwoofer Polk Audio PSW505 ($200)
# These prices are estimated based on my research on eBay, Amazon, etc.

My budget is within $800 and if it can be lower with a decent sound for my needs, it would be great.
I'm planning to order within 2-3 weeks by finalizing the set of audio systems.
I'm thinking of using my iphone and ipad as an audio input device by connecting it to CD input via a cable.
I expect to be able to easily switch a TV to iphone and vice verse.

My question is do these audio systems work properly like technically no problem?
If you can give me some advice like I don't need such a big subwoofer or i need a higher end receiver for these speakers or any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello there :-). Welcome to the club :-). It seems like your setting up a 2.1 system. If you like, as a subwoofer you can also consider the BIC America F12. Its on amazon for about 183. From someone who ownes one, it will shake the house down with music and movies. It will blend well with the Polks. Just my 2cent advice;-).
My Setup: Denon AVR X3600h, Polk Signature S50 Fronts w/ S30 Center and S15 Rears, LG UBK90 4K Player, TCL 6-Series 65”4k TV
