Operation Dead Mouse Drop.
Dead mice (acetaminophen OD) with cardboard and tissue paper parachutes. ... and some folks say American ingenuity is dead! ;-)

... are you suggesting that natural selection is better left to Nature?

let's keep this nonpolitical; bizarre transcends politics ;-)
(but, yeah, the cost aspect is kind of salient, isn't it?)
Maybe we should be dropping these from Cessnas instead of C-131s? -
How about a game of Extinctathon played Global Corps that have displaced Nation States in a Dystopic future?
Oryx and Crake? Anyone?
Surreal is watching what most people believe these days, or rather are "willing" to believe. There is MORE material for late night comics than EVER BEFORE. Because we are so well "read" and "educated"! lol

There, fixed that for you. ;-) -
Because there are only brown snakes that eat dead mice?? What about the rest of the wildlife?
What about the one mouse that slowly parachutes past the island and lands in a whales blowhole? There are holes in the plan....HOLES!!!Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!! -
...ask the Australians about bunny rabbits sometime ;-)

I'm really not too chummy chummy with any Aussies but the first one I meet, you bet your ****$ I'm going to ask him about his bunnies!!
You can be sure of that!

We received a crate at our door one time, addressed from Australia. When I opened it, a giant mouse jumped out and tried to go 10 rounds with our cat, Jose Cuervo...although as I now recall, that may have been back in my drinking days. -
THANX mrh!
I will share this with my wife (US&FWS wildlife biologist).
The Kaibab Plateau is used as an example of the "carrying capacity" of an ecosystem in Wildlife Conservation 101. During the Dust Bowl here in KS, bunny drives were a popular pastime.

Our species' ability to alter the environment and ultimately the ecosystem is pretty remarkable.
The issue of deer is an amusing one - the proliferation of 'boundary' habitat as the suburbs pushed ever outward into the boondocks has caused the whitetail deer population to just skyrocket in the Northeast. I am not a hunter, but there's no doubt that responsible hunting is better than overpopulation with its attendant starvation, disease, and death. Talkin' about deer, not H. sapiens! :-)

... and all those deer brought with them deer ticks and they in turn brought Lyme disease - a case of which I had in the summer of 2012 :-) I'll spare you a look at my 'bull's-eye'...
... and then there's the rather stunning comeback of the wild turkey :-)

Sorry to hear that, Mark! Lyme disease can get VERY NASTY for some. I know a couple of people whose life is hell because of it. Hope yours was a "mild" case that allowed a full recovery!

Mine was very mild - HUGE bullseye but otherwise really no symptoms; the worst problem was the sun sensitivity I had while on the antibiotics. It was freaking summertime... I'd go out for a walk and wonder why, 20 minutes into it, my skin was itchin' all over.... oh, yeah... no sunlight for you! :-)

This is a program that my step-brother was in on during initial research in Guam. He is a PhD in Austrailia and worked on this about 15 years back. They tried all types of methods but settled on the Tylenol because it destroys the kidneys of the snakes. Pretty neat idea. When he first graduated from college, he studied sea turtles and spent six months a year on an island in the Caribbean. Tough life.>

We have some wild turkeys by me too, but coyotes have been keeping their numbers way down. No coyotes up there ? That's a good meal for one......for me too. lolHT SYSTEM-

Yeah, we've got coyotes, too - I just don't have a good photo of one :-)
EDIT: Tylenol (i.e., it's "API" - active pharmaceutical ingredient - which is acetaminophen) is frighteningly toxic... that's why I stick to good ol' aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) and/or Advil (ibuprofen) - I am a little biased towards the latter because I used to work for the folks who make it...
