I have a line on a nice pair of TF600's that are listed for $150 but he's a "motivated seller". I can probably get them for a bit less. I am thinking of picking them up to use in my bedroom where I currently have Mariah Acoustics in a 3.0 setup.
I don't know the model number for the Mariah's. Not much info on the web but they sound pretty good. Imaging is pretty wide, base is very solid but they could us more power than I can currently feed them with a Yammy at 80WPC.
Anyone familiar with the TF600's? Are they easy to drive? Seems like I read they have great imaging. Don't remember what else I read in the past.

I have a set of TF 350s and was blown away when I 1st heard them. They were my go to set before I got my Polk 2Bs.On another forum I asked whether to climb the TF ladder and most said the #600 was the best of the line then they would go with the TimeWindows 1a or 3s.They have an amazing soundstage, image very well and have a clarity hard to believe from their design. You have to be careful if the surrounds are foam which means a rot possibility and to be of the sock design a real PITA to work on.If in good shape both by sound and looks for $150 or less you have a good deal there. Can't really help w/ the amp I use a 200 wpc and was the only amp that ever pushed them.If mirror imaged like the 350s left/right placement is critical and the socks will fade w/ sunlight so be aware of some of the issues.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

Thanks LW. I thought I had heard that the TF600 was kind of a sweet spot. Whatever I read in the past, had me watching for them for some time now.
Almost certainly won't find a better deal, assuming the surrounds and socks are okay. From the photo the socks appear okay, but no photo avail. of the drivers themselves. -
I have TF350s and TW1As both great speakers. I've run both pairs on a 38 watt Marantz 2238B with good results. All of the Time Frame/Time Window speakers have sensitivity ratings in the 90-92db range, so 80 watts will be sufficient. The TF600s are considered the best of the breed by most DCM fans. I've always wanted a pair, but haven't found a sweet enough deal yet.Denon PMA-900V

I'm very familiar with these. They are a great speaker, are very easy to drive, will sound great in a smaller room, and have very good bass. All TFs have great imaging, beautiful mids, and smooth highs. They are a no-brainer at that price.

+1 on dawgs opinion, please jump on these, even if just to try them out and move them along soon, very innovative.humpty dumpty was pushed

The TF 600's were my first introduction to somewhat higher end home audio way back in the day. They sound great. Generally tend to find them with some blown tweeters or bulbs in the crossovers. They should have 3 tweets in each cabinet; one on the front and one on each rear side corner. Chances are some of them will not work. They are difficult sometimes to find a proper replacement as, like Polk designed or modded their gear to be somewhat proprietary, so did Steve Eberbach with DCM. Either way that is a good price if they are in good condition. I have a decent vintage DCM collection which includes 2 pairs of the TF 600's and though I prefer the Time Windows of all models I have heard, the 600's are at the top of the TF class. Even somewhat better than the TF1000's I have as well. I purchased the 1000's thinking I would upgrade to them from the 600's, but found myself preferring the 600's of the 1000's for all but the very bottom end. Good luck I believe you will enjoy them. Probably not as much bottom end as the Mariahs you picked up a while back but great imaging with a deep reach. If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

I had a pair of 600s, found them to be picky on where they sound best. In fairness my room may have been too large for them. IMO $150 is a bit much for them. In that price range and since it is a bedroom I would look for other options. THe 600s are not a small speaker.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

I appreciate all the feedback. I may make him a lower offer and just pass if he doesn't like it. But he did tell me "I just want to get them out of my house", so I assume that means he's open to offers.
Not to hijack my own thread but I found these on CL today and don't even know what model Polk they are.

Anyone know if the rear tweeters on TF600 are supposed to be as loud as the fronts? There is sound coming out of both rears, but it is somewhat diminished in comparison.McCormack DNA-1 Amp, Parasound Halo P5 Pre Amp, Denon DVD 2900 CD player, Adcom GDA 700 DAC, VPI Traveler TT with Denon 103R cartridge, Lounge Audio MKiii phono pre and Copla SUT, Polk SDA SRS 3.1 TL speakers, Tributaries series 8 IC's and speaker cable.

He states in the ad RTA 11t. I'm not familiar with that model, but $100 seems like a good deal considering the number of drivers they have. That would leave plenty of room for mods :loneranger:"Science is suppose to explain observations not dismiss them as impossible" - Norm on AA; 2.3TL's w/sonicaps/mills/jantzen inductors, Gimpod's boards, Lg Solen SDA inductors, RD-0198's, MW's dynamatted, Armaflex speaker gaskets, H-nuts, brass spikes, Cardas CCGR BP's, upgraded IC Cable, Black Hole Damping Sheet strips, interior of cabinets sealed with Loctite Power Grab, AI-1 interface with 1000VA A-L transformer

Yeah, I see that now. I don't think it was on the ad to begin with so he must have gotten some inquiries about the model. They are probably a more interesting speaker than the DCM but probably not the best choice for my little AVR. I need something I can drive more easily until I can upgrade thre. -

He offered them to my for $125. Still haven't decided just because there's lots of Christmas presents still to buy, but it seems like a good price.

It's Christmas; you need to save your money, and he needs money for gifts. Offer him $100 and be ready to go get them. i bet he will take it. the last pair I bought they were asking $250 for. i made an offer, waited a few days, they called me back. When i went over, one of the tweets was bad. I counter offered again and got them for $80. Kind of like the ones you are looking at; they needed them gone. Good luck.If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of Progress?!

Thanks, Mr. Bubbles. I actually did offer $100 and he countered with the in-between offer. It's fair and I am not looking to beat him up over it. If they are around after Christmas maybe I will get them, just having a hard time spending that money now when I don't "need" them.
