So its time for an upgrade! My Onkyo 805 is still just hummin away but have "the itch" and i think its time for a new AVR, I have narrowed it down to the Pioneer SC-71 and the ONK 929. After reading the data on the webs it seems like there are allot of fans of the Pio amps. So help me spend my money. I have the following gear and wont be adding any more surrounds anytime soon. (although the wire is int he walls and ceilings for more rear surrounds.)

Im really leaning towards the Onkyo because of how well the 805 has behaved.

Polk Audio RTi12 - Mains
Polk Audio CSi5 - Center
Polk Audio FXi3 - Surrounds
PB12-Plus/2 - Subwoofer
Adcom GFA-555mkII

You might want to consider keeping the Onkyo and getting an amp to drive the RTI12's.

I have had the the rti12's on the adcom for a long time....I went ahead and ordered the 929 and will send the 805 into the shop/office. I am mainly upgrading because of some video quirks most likely related to the newer revs of HDMI.

Must just have some $$$ burnin' a hole in your pocket!?! What is the 805 not doing that the new ones would?

I have an 805 myself and it's been a great performer and the most reliable piece of gear I've ever owned.

Just some video quirks that can get annoying. syncing to the tv can sometimes be flaky and sometimes after sync I get some issues. Plus Im out of HDMI ports. the 805 has been extremely reliable and has been used daily. I just hope the new one can match the reliability I have got out of the 805.

I run an 805 as well. Dollar for dollar, pound for pound, one of the best "value" AVRs ever! But all of my HDMIs are not that new so nothing unusual. A PS3 and a Sony BDP-S1000ES as sources for video and games. No problems. But I'm not running in 1.4 or 3D so I can understand why you might have some problems.

The 929 is really no match for the amps in the 805 which are beefier. But since you are using the Adcom that shouldn't be a problem!

Have fun! I'm going to run the 805 till it smolders away!
