I've got a Pyrex vessel that I acquired from the UofD chemistry lab several years ago (Pyrex circa 1930s-40s). This container is heavy duty and was hard to lift being full of coin, while transporting & opening doors.

At the end of each day, I drop quarters/spare change inside and approx. 5 years later I decided it was time to go to the credit union and CASH-IN. $911 total

$911 later I can tell you that it will make for a Merry Christmas!! This will go toward the Cary SLP-98 upgrade
(direct coupled, hexfreds and HT by-pass) PLUS a little extra . . .

Anyway, this is a great way to save a little cash each day and have a great Pay Day down the road.
You might wanna consider this crude method of saving, cuz it WORKS!

Have a peacefull holiday all . . .

All right glenn dog, 180 bucks a year.

Some people never spend one dollar bills.

If they break a larger bill the ones get put in a container similar to the one you use.

I know people who pay for their vacations each year with those ones.

Not cruises to italy or anything, but a week at the beach or something.

I do sort of the same thing with a 1% cash back card. It works better for me since I don't really use cash anymore.

Way to Go! As a former Chemistry teacher = proof that chemistry pays off.

I'm with BadChad on this one. My last "rewards" check was for $491. Hmmm, that's 1% of . . . . . whoa. Good thing I pay the card off every month.

Congrats, what a great time for a little extra coin!

I remember doing this with all of my nickel, dime, quarter poker winnings way back when. I was working full time and making decent money, so who cares about change.

A few years later, I went back to college and reacquainted myself with being broke in short order. Then I remembered my giant cigar box full of poker winnings, and had a few hundred bucks extra to spend. Talk about a joyous "re-discovery"!

The best part was taking it to one of those change counting machines, and waiting in line with this rather large treasure chest of a cigar box, while the kids in front of me dumped in little zip lock bags of coins. When my turn came, I could hear the collective "holy ****" from the guys in line behind me.

The key for me was a "no pennies" rule.

And Kudos for you for doing so. That's the only way those cash back reward cards work. I know people who carry balances of 5 grand on those cards at 28% interest and they can't understand when I tell them they are losing money.....big money.
