NFL Banned "Offensive" Commercial

This is kinda funny and, at least, mildly disturbing: A benign pro-2nd amendment ad that was filmed at our house a few months ago was banned by the NFL from airing during the Super Bowl because it was deemed "offensive". Is Oprah running the NFL now? Sheesh. Apologies to Oprah fans - I really have no idea whether she supports the constitution. Hehe

My son happened to catch some guy on Reddit criticizing the NFL for hypocrisy and saw it was "our" ad he was talking about. Don't know who Mr. Noir is, but I thought his video was pretty funny and on point. That video is here:

Why don't you guys rant about the sick, the poor, the lonely, the old, the orphaned, you know, "human beings" and the human condition for once instead of always being paranoid about a "right" you will NEVER lose in this country!

Will you? No! There will ALWAYS be more guns in the U.S. than anyone really needs, and that's just the way it is, was, and always will be, because people love them so much! In fact, I'd say a lot of guys love guns more than "people"! Or at the very least they worry more about "their" guns than their fellow man? Which is disturbing anyway you parse it!

I believe the NFL can ban whatever they want. There are also rumors of them being unkind to pro-marijuana commercials.

Must be a slow news week... Or just another dangling of a shiny object to distract from what is really happening. This is really not "news" or information that the people need. I do find it ironic that the NFL, one of the most violent sports on the planet where 22 guys try to rip each others heads off on Sundays has selective morality. If they don't need the money, then they can put whatever ads on their product that they want... But when the NFL decides that they are going to adopt any ideological agenda, I will cancel my Sunday ticket Subscription. I usually watch the games on a 1 hour delay anyway so I can skip through the commercial crap anyway.

Gonna disagree with ya pal. The only reason we haven't lost that right yet is because of the NRA. If politicians were left to do as they wish, they'd have been gone along time ago.

The sick,poor,orphaned ? I think you will find that gun owners are some of the most giving in society. If ever a rant is warranted concerning the sick,poor and orphaned, it would be towards policies that promote such.

That said, the NFL certainly has a right to pick and choose their advertisers. Does that excuse them of hypocrisy ? No...nor does that excuse them of pushing other agendas. If they were wise, they'd pick no agenda to push and remain neutral in their advertising campaigns. Have to admit, Bob Costas and his little frickin' rants on air is disgusting and takes away from the game.

Policies that promote poverty, illness, and homelessness? Like Democratic policies, or the trickle down policies of Reagan that threw 1000s out of mental hospitals, allowed speculators to eliminate most Rent controlled housing in NYC, and depress the average salary of the middle class (and keep it there since the '80s) by making ALL unions the work of the Devil! lol

The GOP has done more to increase the disparity between the haves and the have nots than any other group. And as far as the NRA--they're a puppet of the arms industry who pulls THEIR strings! Big business not "rights" are the issue here. Don't CUT INTO their profits. Get your head out of the sand and quit with the conservative tripe, tony. You know better than to argue with rhetorical flourishes.

Not that the Dems are blameless. They've made a mess of Health care because they were TOO spineless to confront the RIGHT with a SINGLE PAYER OPTION that would have put the clamps on that BIG BAD OLD HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY which is solely driven by PROFITS!

It's tough to start the week with this stuff and much easier to digest it as the days pass. But I have no stomach for those who BLAME the POOR for their poverty. And do not blame GREED for at least SOME of their condition! We need to spread the BLAME around. Do you think those guys on Wall Street give a rat's **** about anyone who is poor? No. They're wondering where the next BUBBLE they can BURST is. While half of black youth are in jail? If things were just in this country, 50 percent of White Wall Street would be serving sentences as well!

Do you know that there are FEW countries OTHER than the U.S. that actually TEACH their people to BLAME THEMSELVES FOR THEIR LACK OF SUCCESS! Very very few and one might do well to ask whose "interests" such an IDEOLOGY supports? We don't need to provide anything for them because they are responsible for their own situation. Just like those Hedge Fund boys who mismanage billions of dollars that belong to retirees and ZERO their old age savings? Those guys are not responsible for some old people losing their life savings, are they? No, it's the old farts' fault.

And the fact the almost no one can find a middle-class job in the U.S. anymore. Our fault AGAIN! Or maybe it's because we don't let businesses pay NO taxes at all so they can OFFSHORE ALL THEIR PROFITS and LABOR. Trying not to get this thread closed but while some points are valid, others depend on social justice theories. All I will say is that there is a fine line between personal responsibility, getting a hand up and not a hand out. That's what separates your 2 political parties and their policies.

Fair enough. But a number of you need to read about how "ideology" works and what it is. Because personal responsibility in this country is a part of that! It is so "politicized" as to be unusable as an argument for anything but the support of Dogma!

I've lived among those have nots. And I come from there. So who are we going to believe? Those who know through experience or those who think they know?

Most World Religions teach one to err on the side of "compassion". But where is that compassion amongst all the "I, ME, MINE" ranting on this site?

More than 50% of high school "grads" cannot read at grade level.Not to mention their miserable math skills and basic social skills.

The schools are just there to baby sit and provide some football for amusement.
Make your kids study, and see what happens. The teachers can't make them do anything.
Parents on the other hand can apply pressure. A quick look around shows us that most parents
care more about their kids bringing home a trophy than good grades.

I agree.Homeschooling is the way to go if your option is to send your kids to a public school in any major city of the US.

Come on guys, I think your looking at this from the wrong way. Mind you, the NFL has had more than its fair share with player(employees) and gun incidents. We can't forget that, and none that I remember we're good incidents. Maybe that's why the league is quick to shy away from this issue?

How is cnh part of the problem? I don't see the connection you are trying to make.... As far as your tax rate, if it's even true, you must make quite a bit of scratch if your rate is nearly double my rate. That would make it really hard for me to feel sorry for you. I guess you could always move?

Teacher comments? I find it hard to believe anybody who 'attacks' a public school teacher has ever really known one. If the kid can't read coming out of FIFTH grade I would ask how much the parents have spent trying to help them. I'll give you a few exceptions for kids with disabilities, but every teacher I know IS torn up by a struggling student...

I also agree I feel like what is going to happen to our nation if our education system keeps going the way it is however all we seem to do about it is cut budgets and increase class sizes. Have you ever tried to take care of a hormone raged teen, let alone THIRTY in one room?

I'm outta this one, nothing but large egos and bad opinions coming...
