Wow, this is great news! Check out www.theorderofthedragon.com to read about the new album coming out in early June. Recording has already started on their new record label. I have a feeling this album is going to kick some serious ****. According to the bassist the new album will sound like a mix of "Damnation and a Day" and "Cruelty and the Beast". Cruelty is one of my favorite Cradle album. Can't wait for this one.

Album title is "Nymphetamine" and there will be ten tracks:
01. Medusa And Hemlock
02. Nemesis
03. Prey
04. Gilded ****
05. Absinthe With Faust
06. Painting Flowers White Never Suited My Palette
07. Coffin Fodder
08. Filthy Little Secret
09. Gabrielle
10. Swansong For A Raven

Maurice, thanks for the heads up man. Ya, Cruelty is one of my all time favorites. Good stuff indeed. Love the titles....;)

Hopefully the mix won't sound like Cruelty though...where's the bass?

I do wish we had more bands like immortal to give us songs about fortresses of permsfrost:D

    Cletusmcgee,
Wow, another Cradle fan. I guess that count just went up to three. Actually I thought Cruelty had one of the best production. The bass is there in my system. Not too much and not too little. If they had mids/highs like Cruelty and bass like "Midian", I'd piss my pants:D . I'm just starting to get used to the "Damnation and a Day" production. Sounds pretty good when you listen really loud.

    Cletusmcgee,
Did you know Immortal broke up? That's really sad:(. "Sons of Northern Darkness" is THE black metal album. I saw them perform last year....amazing show.

There are more bands like Immortal. I'm at school right now. When I get home I'll go through my CD collection and let you know other similar bands.

    Organ,

yeah, I'm not really a huge metalhead since Cruelty, Damnation, and SoND are the only metal albums I own period. I like the more extreme forms of metal, but the crappy production value of 99% of the albums keeps me from delving further on my own.

You're right though. Cruelty does have a FANTASTIC sound to it....except in the bass dept. The production sounds grand and epic, but without overproduction that can make it sound like some corny prog rock...or butt rock.

Damnation is good overall, but highly compressed IMHO

Think I'll go listen some U2 now...

Sorry man, I forgot to give you the other bands. Another band with a similar style to Immortal is Amon Amarth. Their new album "VS the World" has incredible production. Dynamics is over the top and super clean. It has more of a viking sound and deep growls instead of the grim/troll vocals from Immortal.

A lot of those bands have signed to bigger record labels like Napalm Records, Nuclear Blast, etc. Production is so much better now.

If you want the best production, try Nightwish www.nightwish.com They have several mp3's you can download. I give the sound on "Wishmaster" and "Century Child" 10/10. No compression at all! Super dynamics. Production is more grand and epic than anything else I've heard.
