Alon 1
I stopped by a "vintage store" yesterday. Walked in and saw all kinds of antique furniture, clothes etc. In the back of the store I see a wall of vintage audio stuff. I made a b-line to see what was there. Mostly run of the mill Pioneer, Technics, Sony, CV speakers. A few nice pairs of Tannoy bookies, Advent towers etc. In the corner I see the Alon's. They are beat to hell! The bezels the tweeters and mids are in are both cracked. Tweeters are not hooked up, or work as I later find out. Both dust caps on both woofers are pushed in. The veneer (not sure what kind, really deep red looking) was chipped on the corners and scratched up badly. They were also missing the tops. Boots or whatever they are called that cover the tweets and mids.
So I am thinking this may be a cheap "project" to buy. Expensive project to restore. I ask how much. The shop owner says "in present condition...I will take $600". I said really? :eek:
They did have some nice Sansui, Onkyo Integra intergrated amp there and some other stuff that looked interesting. They also had a Beogram table selling AS IS for $20. He didn't know what was wrong with it.
I know that Alon speakers are expensive but dang....is this guy crazy or what?

No but I know what those guys pay for stuff. Make a lowball offer and be willing to walk away.>

Ken I knew he was bat**** crazy on the Alon's. And he was rather high on some other stuff as well. He did have a Polk RM1000 for $40. lol
He does have a Onkyo Integra preamp I am interested in though.--Gary--
