Is there any such thing? My wife wants the "real" stuff, no generics or refill-types. Stuff isn't cheap and since the model is no longer made it doesn't show up at Black Friday anymore :(

    Printer ink....another scam.

If she wants originals, it will cost some. Almost cheaper in the long run to buy a new printer. Comes with ink and the newer cartridges will be more readily available. No ?

Agreed. Ink, toner, etc. is how HP, and other printer companies, make money. It has been equated to the razor model, sell the razor for little, and make money on the blades. Years ago HP tried suing the companies that refilled empty HP cartridges. When they lost that, they tried a propaganda campaign saying non-HP ink would break the printer. Since a very sizable percentage of their profits were coming from the printer division, this made sense.

I buy original Canon factory refills on Costco's web site. They don't carry them in the store anymore.

    I have a Pixma 960

I've been usin generic ink from Amazon in my MP620 for over 3 years. never any issues with it. 4 complete sets (20 carts) for less than $20 delivered.

Works just as well as the Canon ink.

Does your printer take PGI-5 and CLI-8 carts? If it does, they will fit. Or just do another search, there are at least 30 options for the carts my MP620 uses.

There is a chip on each cart, it's how the printer keeps track of how much ink you've used, and when the cart is empty. The only time I've seen them sold without chips, is when you buy blank (empty) carts that you fill yourself.
