I know some people are a little iffy about ebay. But the seller even has 100% positive feedback....

Those are rare and cool but the price is high IMO. You can get some sweet new towers for the same price, or rt55s and a pair of musical subs. And those maps are VERY prone to failure...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

I agree, the price is a little high.

Nice speakers but....I bought my RT3000P set with one missing amp for quarter of that price. Complete RT5000 sets sell for $1200....I even seen a complete rosewwood set in great condition for $750!
For that kind of money there are many other non Polk options. However, staying with Polk for a little more coin, one could get a NEW set of LSiM703's off eBay for $1050. Then save up a little more cash and drive an hour and a half over to HSU in Anaheim, and pick up an VTF-3 MK4 for $629. Should make for a nice combo for music and HT.2.2 Office Setup | LG 29UB55 21:9 UltraWide | HP Probook 630 G8 | Dell Latitude | Cabasse Stream Amp 100 | Boston Acoustics VS 240 | AUDIORAX Desk Stands | Mirage Omni S8 sub1 | Mirage Omni S8 Sub2 -

You can have your "new towers" and "musical subs and RT55s".
I'll take a nice RT5000 system any day.
And $1200 is not bad for a nice set. Beat to crap ones go for less though. Pristine sets with nice cabinets and drivers are hard to come by and fetch more $.
$750 for the rosewood set is a steal! -
I love responses that demonstrate lack of basic reading comprehension skills. The 1200 is for a PAIR OF RT3000s, not rt5000s. Much different. COnsidering what a pair of rt3000s consists of, and the fact that the amps are known to fail, I don't see how a pair of rt55s and good musical subs wouldn't trump that any day of the week.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

The satellites and RT55's are not the same speaker. I prefer the satellite in its sealed and much better built cabinet. I do think you can find a better way to spend $1200 on speakers, but the RT55/sub combo wouldn't be it IMO. Yeah, bang for buck, that combo is excellent and would be a better deal on the used market. Direct comparison though? Nah.
Okay granted they are not the same, and the top half of the rt3000 might be better, but with the cash left over you could but a MUCH better and more reliable pair of subs, like HSU VTF-1 MK2, and have money left over to mod the crossovers. Bottom line for me wasn't the direct comparison, but the simple fact that 1200 bucks is way too much and--as you said--one can do much better overall on the used market for that money.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Polk doesn't make them like the RT5000 and the SRT anymore. They cost more in 1990's dollars than the "flagships" of today cost in 2013 dollars. Today the SRT would cost over $20,000 and the RT5000 would be over $10,000.
