I'm not sure since I don't have one but wouldn't you hook it up to the center outputs?

You should hook it up using speaker wires from the center sepaker output on the receiver. The distortion could be the result of the center speaker's bass and LFE signal combined which could overpower the amp section.

yeah i don't think you are suppose to hook up a center thru the LFE output. change it to the center output and see if that makes a difference. i suspect it will. does the CS1000p have powered subs in it?

You are able to use a pre-out connection, and it contains a subwoofer amplifer.

The pre-out connection should be the center channel pre-out, not the LFE....as DB stated, per manual. It sounds like you are causing the distortion because of this connection method.

I would use that term "subwoofer" loosely when it pertains to that speaker, or any like it.

    1) Use your speaker level inputs only, and see if the distortion goes away. Keep the volume low. Check your AVR settings.

    2) Use your center channel pre-out, and see if your distortion goes away. Keep the volume low. Check you AVR settings.

The only reason I hooked it up to the lfe out was because the back of the cs1000p was marked that way. Im sure if i have it hooked up without the lfe out the distortion would go away. I thought that polk would have thought of this and would have the crossover set accordingly.

Thanx guys you guys were right on with that info. Using the center pre outs no distortion at all. Sounds so much fuller. Amazing difference now. Long live Polk.

Ya, by no means would the bass in this center be considered worth of the term sub, but it is a fuller sound than others that I've heard.

If I understand the way you hooked up the speaker before was that you ONLY had the LFE connection, with no other connection, right? If that's the case, you wouldn't have heard anything other than what it would try to play as sub levels, which it absolutely won't EVER do.

Ideally, what would make this one BAD **** speaker is if the amp was disconnected and a crossover was put in to make all 4 drivers active and none of them officially 'subs'.

Warviper - Glad that it is working fine now. If it is marked "LFE" on the rear, that is a problem, and Polk should have addressed that issue. I say that because the manual mentions nothing at all about using it as a LFE, only in a center channel pre-out configuration. Weird, but oh well.

That IS one bad **** center channel, real subwoofer or not, it can throw down the sound with authority.
