It was announced recently the at one of the first great mp3 audio players is shutting down. I remember starting off with this player in College and used it all the way through school. While i've moved on to other players, Its a shame to see one of great early pioneers of computer Audio be shutdown. Winamp.... it really whips the lama's a**!

I fell into the demographics of that story. Around 2000, I got tired of hearing Metallica complaining about free downloads, so I loaded Napster, along with Winamp, and downloaded every Metallica song I could find. After buying a set of Yamaha speakers, and sub, for the computer, I was surprised at how well it sounded. I was able to hear a lot of music I never even knew existed thanks to Napster. I considered it to be the modern equivalent to the radio.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes
Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables
Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
Three 20 amp circuits. -

I completely concur!! I bought a slew of CD's after I got my listen on. For me it was nothing more than recording an LP from a friend on cassette and then liking it so much I had to have the album. -
Microsoft might be buying winamp and shoutcast from AOL. http://pctechmag.com/2013/11/microsoft-in-talks-to-buy-winamp-from-aol/
