After my pos Kenwood receiver died in my bdrm I was using zn 2 off my Yamaha for a while. A few days ago I saw at the same dumpster I found the Fender Sqiure I saw this Samsonite old school alligator suitcase.I lifted it and it was not in the dumpster which usually means it might be worth something to someone.I brought it my apt and open the suitcase and find a Sony STR-D-590 stereo avr/ w all inputs and radio working and after a little 409 it looks freakin new.Now tunes again in the bedroom w/ my JBL-J 2060s. I also got the Panasonic cdp DVD#RV32 @ a garage sale w/ remote for $7 a few months ago.

I never find stuff like that, and the suitcase looks good too.

Nice surprise. Those JBLs are not bad bookshelves. Does you tweeter still work. I have a set of 2600s which are very similar and those tweeters have a faulty design which makes them fail after a while. Ended up being a good thing because I found a perfect Vifa cloth dome replacement for the metal ones in the original and they sound "better" than the originals now. The Vifas put that tiny titanium to shame.

    Have fun!

Hey you know that old gag ,one persons junk is anothers treasure. You can't believe how much good stuff I have found around here. It's a 1300 unit development w/ people getting evicted ,moving and just changing up decor. My 1st apt was just about furnished w/ the help of the maintanence guys giving me a heads up when an apt is being emptied or just find good stuff. The story about the Fender was I was taking out the garbage and behind the dumpster was a Fender Squire trapazodial looking box. I've been to Guitar Center a bunch of times and knew what the box lookled like.I shook it and looked inside and it was all there. The guitar, gig bag, a electronic tuner, picks, strap and a wrench to adjust the neck. Now there are not a lot of scenarios that I can think why a fairly new guitar would be sitting there.1.It was outrightly stolen and the perps either got scared or stashed it there to p/u later. It was not sealed and looked like it had been used2. A very pissed off parent who gave the guitar as a gift, the kid did not practice was terrible and then was bad in school and said it's gone. And 3. I have no idea ,even the maintanence guys would keep it.I will Google the suitcase to see if it's real and worth anything.

As for the JBLs they are fine and I got them for $20 from a C/L w/ those offset stands I now use for the ADC303ax.It's true you can't push them like my bigger sets but just for my bdrm they are the perfect fit.The suitcase well I found it and everything is worth sometrhing I guess. The dimensions are the same just a bit cleaner, but again the 409 will work for faux alligator.

I lived in a higher end apartment building once and people were constantly leaving really nice stuff next to the garbage compacter down in the parking garage below the building. I could have probably made a living on craigslist and ebay but I'm pretty sure this was before those websites were around.

Also my dad was an apartment maintenance guy and people would leave nice things in apartments when they moved out all the time, I had stacks of VCR's and stuff 5 feet tall, I just used what I wanted and either gave the other stuff to friends or eventually tossed them myself.
